VII. PUBLIC LISTENING SESSION
Description:
The Board of Education provides a public listening session for the public to comment on non-agenda items related to the governance or management of the Waunakee Community School District. Individuals may use this time to also comment on any items listed as part of the meeting agenda. A copy of Board Policy 187 —Public Participation at Board Meetings is enclosed for your reference. Past practice has allowed 30 minutes for this section of the agenda.

VIII.C.1. Linkage Meeting Follow-up
Description:
A Linkage Meeting was held on Monday, December 5th on Student AODA and Mental Health Concerns. Fifty-five people attended the meeting and represented a cross-section of the community. I thought the discussion was very honest, and each break out group -- school, Community Cares Coalition, and the high school Above the Influence Group -- each received great feedback and ideas for actionable next steps. I am requesting that the Goals Committee convene prior to the Holiday Break to review with our planning team the outcomes and input from that meeting. Thank you to Peggy, Julie, Joan, and Jack for attending the meeting. Please feel free to share your observational insights with the Board on Monday evening. For your convenience, the PowerPoint presentation from this evening is attached.

Description:
Attached please find a timeline of what has been accomplished in the past 90 days and looking forward from now until Spring Break. All potential meetings are not articulated on this timeline, but the primary markers give you a sense of the landscape of our work after the first of the year. Our primary focus turns to the budget and budget process.

planning initiative. The focus of this presentation is providing an update to the 2014 long term facility plan. The Budget Committee discussed the process for a transportation bid at the December 6th meeting. IX.B.2. Physical Education Waiver
Description:
Attached please find a cover memo from Tim Schell, Brian Kersten, and Aaron May regarding the Board option to create a policy to allow for a 0.5 credit waiver of physical education. Tim Schell will review the following with the Board on Monday evening:
1. State Law -- what is the waiver option? 2. Cover Memo from Tim, Brian, and Arron with Policy Options 3. Other School District Approaches to the Waiver Option. There are two questions I am asking the Board to consider on Monday: a. Do you want to see a policy that includes a physical education waiver -- yes or no? b. If yes, what feedback do you have for administration/Policy Committee on how broad or narrow to create the policy? In the Extra Tab of BoardBook you will see sample policy and other supporting materials on this topic. We are not looking to vote on a specific policy on Monday evening, but rather need direction from the Board if you want us to proceed with writing a policy with the Policy Commitee, and if so, thoughts to guide that process with the Policy Committee. We look forward to your direction on this issue.

Description:
Attached and included in the Extra's Tab of BoardBook you will find information on our district and school report cards that were recently released by DPI. You probably have already seen our data as it was reported in the local newspapers when the data embargo was raised. Tim Schell will be available to answer any questions you may have about our data.
