6.N. 2020 Texas Higher Education Leadership Virtual Conference. The 2020 Texas Higher Education Leadership Conference is scheduled for Thursday, November 19, 2020, as a virtual event.
The Leadership Conference will include panels and speakers covering topics such as effective trusteeship, ethics, revenue and budgeting processes for public community colleges and universities, conducting monitoring and oversight of institutions of higher education and the 2020 State of Higher Education address to be delivered by the Commissioner of Higher Education. Members of the Board of Regents are encouraged to attend the virtual conference with Dr. Millicent Valek, President. Registration for the conference is to be made through Kasie Guthrie, Executive Assistant to the President. |
6.O. December Board Meeting. The December 2020 meeting of the Board of Regents is scheduled for Thursday, December 10, 2020, at 11:30 a.m. to be held remotely via Zoom.

6.P. LVN Pinning Ceremony. The LVN Pinning Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, December 10, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. in the Clarion. Due to safety concerns surrounding the global pandemic, this will be an invitation only event with a limited and socially distanced audience.

6.Q. Law Enforcement Academy Graduation. The Law Enforcement Academy Graduation will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. in the Clarion. Due to safety concerns surrounding the global pandemic, this will be an invitation only event with a limited and socially distanced audience.

6.R. January 2021 Board Meeting. The January 2021 meeting of the Board of Regents is set for Tuesday, January 19, 2021, due to a college holiday on Monday, January 18, 2021.

6.S. 2021 Board Workshop. As part of the College’s evolving planning process, the Board meets in an annual workshop to study information, measure progress toward milestones, and discuss future directions.
The 2021 Board Workshop is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, February 5-6, 2021. Professional Development workshop sessions will take place on Friday afternoon, 1:30-4:30 p.m. These workshop sessions will be delivered in a hybrid model, allowing Regents and staff to choose to attend these sessions in person or to participate remotely. A Special Board Meeting will be held remotely on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. The Board meeting will provide an opportunity to review the College’s five-year financial outlook and consider updates to the Strategic Plan Vision 2025. |
6.T. Counselor/Administrator Dinner. In lieu of the traditional Counselor Administrator Dinner, lunch will be sent to each partner to celebrate our collaborations over the 2020-2021 academic year.

6.U. 2021 Career Fair. Brazosport College will host its annual Career Fair on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. For the first time in 29 years, the event will be held virtually. Brazosport College has partnered with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to offer a virtual career fair experience through Easy VirtualFair.
As in previous years, students will have the opportunity to participate in educational sessions on specific career areas and general topics (impression management, resume development, communication and more). A variety of activities that are designed to provide career and educational information will be provided through this cooperative effort between Brazosport College, the ISDs, business, industry, and civic organizations. The event serves approximately 1,700 juniors from the Angleton, Brazosport, Columbia-Brazoria, Danbury, and Sweeny Independent School Districts. Students from Angleton Christian School, Brazosport Christian School, and Foundation Preparatory Academy will also participate. |
6.V. Commencement 2021. Commencement exercises for the 2020-2021 academic year are scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2021. Modality of the ceremonies is to be determined as the College continues to closely monitor federal, state, and local guidelines surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.

6.W. Policy Review. At the Board Workshop on February 13-14, 2009, Regents initiated a systematic review of Board policy. It was suggested that a number of Board policies be included for review as part of each monthly agenda. Questions regarding the referenced policy may be addressed to the President prior to the meeting for clarification and/or discussion.

8.A. Freeport LNG Request for Termination of Second Modified Tax Abatement Agreement. Attached is a letter from S.L. Cornelius, President & COO of Freeport LNG, requesting termination of the second modified tax abatement agreement passed by the Board on November 18, 2019. The Brazoria County court order approving termination is also attached.
It would be appropriate for the Board to approve termination of the second modified tax abatement agreement with Freeport LNG.

8.B. Selection of Interpreter. At the December 12, 2019 meeting of the Board of Regents, the Board approved a one-year contract for interpreter services with Sorenson Community Interpreting Services, a service of Sorenson Communications, LLC, a Utah limited liability company (Sorenson). Attached are the new agreement and pricing appendix received from Sorenson for interpreter services to be effective during the 2021 calendar year.
It would be appropriate for the Board to approve a one-year agreement with Sorenson for interpreter services.

8.C. Interlocal Agreements with Brazosport ISD Regarding Reunification Site and Transportation and Memorandums of Understanding with Local Churches Regarding Alternative Reunification Sites. Attached are proposed Interlocal Agreements between Brazosport College and Brazosport ISD that (1) designate Clute Intermediate School as a reunification site in case of an evacuation emergency at Brazosport College and (2) provide for bus transportation by Brazosport ISD to the reunification sites. Also attached are proposed Memorandums of Understanding between Brazosport College and First United Methodist Church and Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church whereby these churches agree to be alternate reunification sites in case of an emergency that requires an evacuation at the College.
The President, the Vice President of Human Resources, and the Director of Campus Safety & Chief of Police recommend that the Board approve and adopt these Interlocal Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding. It would be approriate for the Board to approve and adopt these Interlocal Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding as presented in the agenda.

8.D. Approval of Spring 2021 Tuition and Fees for Community Education. The Vice President, Industry & Community Resources, recommends the attached amendments and additions to tuition and fees for Community Education courses for the Spring 2021 semester.
It would be appropriate for the Board to approve the 2021 tuition and fees for Community Education as recommended.

8.E. Sale of Property Held in Trust. Attached is a communication from the Brazoria County Tax Office containing a recommendation from the Property Tax Resale Committee of Brazoria County for the sale of certain property held in trust by Brazoria County (account number 7805-0002-000).
It would be appropriate for the Board to approve the sale of property held in trust.
