Description:  The school board meeting is a meeting in the public, not a public meeting.  Nicollet School Board Policy provides that persons who wish to have a subject discussed at a public school board meeting are encouraged to notify the superintendent’s office in advance of the school board meeting.  The school board chair will recognize one speaker at a time and will rule out of order other speakers who are not recognized, violations of data privacy, or inappropriate comments.

Description: 

1. The MSBA Leadership Conference is January 11 and 12.  School board members and Robin are registered for the conference.
2. The SBSE Workshop with Gail Gillman of MSBA will be January 17 at 5:00 p.m.
3. A committee has been meeting with USI representatives to solicited bids for our health insurance.  The bids received were less attractive than our current carrier (PEIP).  So, we will continue with our current health insurance carrier for now.  The committee plans to solicit health insurance bids again in the future.  

4. CLA was unable to fulfill their contract with us to prepare data for the FY 23 audit.  However, SMS has agreed to do the work.  (We contract with SMS for HR and Business Manager services.)  Our auditing firm, BergenKDV, will be on site December 13 to complete the FY 23 audit.  All parties are working toward presenting the completed audit to the school board on January 10.  
5. The Gallop Employee Engagement Survey was administered to employees last month October 11-26.  There were 25 responses from the 40 employees (62%).  Both the elementary and secondary groups reported the lowest scores on Question 4 and 11.  An action plan has been completed based on Gallop’s research determining "what the best managers do".  The plan is attached and will be implemented by Robin and Nancy beginning in January.

Description:  MS 123B.02, Subd. 6 permits the school board to accept donations or gifts for the benefit of the district.  The Superintendent recommends approving the donations received.

6. The superintendent recommends approving the payable 2024 levy in the amount of $1,472,858.88.  This represents a 0.64% or $9,469.31 decrease compared to the 2023 levy.  Truth and taxation information will be presented by the superintendent.
