Description:
The school board meeting is a meeting in the public, not a public meeting. Nicollet School Board Policy provides that persons who wish to have a subject discussed at a public school board meeting are encouraged to notify the superintendent’s office in advance of the school board meeting. The school board chair will recognize one speaker at a time and will rule out of order other speakers who are not recognized, violations of data privacy, or inappropriate comments.

5.a. Superintendent's Report
Agenda Item Type:
Information Item
Description:
Repairs to the south parking lot will begin after July 1st. The expense of $21,360 will be allocated to the FY 23 LTFM budget.
I met with Sue Keithahn, representing the Greater Nicollet Area Community Foundation (GNACF). They may be interested in supporting the playground project for the daycare. I am meeting with the GNACF board on June 15th. Kendra Hoffman and I are working with Flagship Recreation to design the playground. We should have concept drawings and a budget within the few weeks. We were awarded National School Lunch Program Equipment Grant of $35,000 to purchase a new serving line. The line will accommodate hot and cold foods, milk, and food trays. Congratulations to Rebbeca Gieseke and Barb Rosin for writing and receiving the grant. The new line will be installed this summer. Students returning to school in-person after two years of "pandemic education" brought challenges and opportunities. I appreciate the professionalism and resilience demonstrated by our staff over the past school year. |

Description:
MS 123C.01 requires individual school boards to authorize membership in the Minnesota State High School League each year. Approving MSHSL membership affirms 1) that the school district delegates control, supervision and regulation of MSHSL activities to MSHSL, 2) that the school district adopts the constitution, bylaws, rules and regulations of the MSHSL, 3) that the administration and responsibility for supervising MSHSL activities are assigned to the superintendent.

7. APPROVE FY 23 PRELIMINARY COMMUNITY EDUCATION FUND BUDGETS
Agenda Item Type:
Action Item
Description:
Lindsey Heini, Kerrie Riley, Carrie Hoffman, and the superintendent have met several times to address the preschool finances. We have stabilized the program for next year by coding expenses to ECSE (early childhood special education) prorated to the number of special ed students in preschool.
A marketing flier was developed with NECC (attached). The new wraparound childcare services may increase preschool enrollment and improve its financial health. The long-term financial viability of the preschool program is uncertain without additional state aid or another subsidy. The preschool program is projected to operate with a positive variance of about $7,000 for FY 23. The preschool program budget is within the Preliminary FY 23 Community Service Funds Budget (attached). The adjustments to the daycare program were approved by the school board last month. The superintendent recommends approving the Preliminary FY 23 Community Service Funds Budget.
