II. QUALITY IN ACTION

II.A. Primary Years Coordinator Ryan Higbea will highlight the AVID strategies and how they support the IB philosophy at Kaposia Education Center.  AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, brings research-based strategies and curriculum to provide educators with training and methods that develop develop students’ critical thinking, literacy, and math skills across all content areas.  Students are able to learn skills and behaviors for academic success, receive intensive support with tutorials and strong student/teacher relationships, experience a positive peer group for students, and develop a sense of hope for personal achievement gained through hard work and determination. II.B. The South St. Paul Board of Education would like to honor and thank the following 25 year employees of South St. Paul Public Schools for their continued commitment and dedication to the students and people of this community:  Elizabeth Ivascu (LC), Stephanie Simones (HS), Conrad Anderson (HS), Chris Bakken (HS), Jon Gustafson (HS), and Janet Heinsch (KEC)
