V.D. Discuss and consider the approval of revising board policy EIE (Local) — Academic Achievement: Retention and Promotion, regarding grade level report cards and promotion of students in Kindergarten - First Grade.
Description:
Policy Recommendation
For grade levels Kindergarten-First grade, promotion to the next grade level shall be based on the report card grade-level standards for reading and mathematics and evidence of grade-level literacy skills and competencies as measured by appropriate reading assessments. In grades 2-3, promotion to the next grade level shall be based on an overall average of 70 on a scale of 100 based on course-level, grade-level standards (essential knowledge and skills) for all subject areas and a grade of 70 or above in English/language arts/reading (ELAR) and mathematics.
