Description:
Other than Agenda items (Limit 30 minutes, 5 minutes per speaker). During the public comment part of each regular board meeting, up to 30 minutes of time will be allowed for district constituents to address the board. Each person may have up to 5 minutes of time to speak. This is a time of "listening" by the school board. The board is here to listen only and will not take action or discuss topics brought forward during the open forum. It may, at is discretion, ask questions for clarification of issues. The board may, if it deems appropriate, bring said issues forward at a subsequent meeting. NO PERSONAL ATTACKS WILL BE ALLOWED. The open forum is the only opportunity for members of the audience to speak out during the meeting. Please attach form and follow the guidelines for presenting your topic.

9.4. Review and Act on Addition of 6th Graders to the Cross Country Team
Description:
With board approval, we would like to allow 6th graders to join the cross country team in the fall of 2019. They would not be able to compete in MSHSL events, but many meets we attend have a middle school component that allows 6th graders a chance to run. They also would not be covered by the MSHSL catastrophic insurance, essentially they would be similar to our middle school theater program where we allow 6th graders to audition. On a typical practice date, we would treat them like our other middle schoolers, they would just operate differently on meet days. The rationale for this is due to our numbers being low and giving those 6th graders some motivation to stick with the sport. It will benefit our program when they become 7th graders, and adding them will not be cumbersome to our coaches. The coaches are aware there will be no additional pay for adding 6th graders.
