7.2. Review and Act on Proposed Debt Collection Process
|
7.3. Review and Act on Resolution to Transition to Even Year School Board Elections
Description:
1. Extend the terms of all members by 1 year. For example, Tom, Deb, Connie, and Sandy are up in 2017, so they would move to 2018. Bob, Bob, and Lauren are up in 2019, so they would move to 2020. This is the most cost effective way to to do things as we would immediately go to an even year cycle simply with the passage of a resolution. This saves the district and taxpayers money sooner than option 2.
2. Keep the terms of our current Board Members the same, but reduce the term of the Board Members elected in 2017 and 2019 to 3 year terms. Tom, Deb, Connie, and Sandy would still be up in 2017. Those who would be newly elected (either incumbents or challengers) would be elected for a 3 year term and would be up for re-election in 2020. The same would hold true for Bob, Bob, and Lauren up in the 2019. Either they, as incumbents, or the challengers elected in 2019 would be elected for a 3 year term to 2022 to get onto the even year schedule. If this is the scenario that is chosen, we would still pay for 2 more odd year elections, but beginning with 2020, we would go back to 4 year terms and be on the even cycle.
