V. Public Comment
Description:
(Public comments (limited to 3 minutes each) are welcome at this Board of Education meeting. In order to conduct productive meetings, there will be no dialogue with the public about topics during this meeting. The Board may make a brief response to a public comment, or will provide for follow-up with individuals or groups at a later date, if the Board determines that issues require additional research. For certain issues that require additional understanding the Board may also schedule a special meeting where public dialogue can occur. VII. Consent Agenda *
Description:
(The Board reviews minutes from past meetings to make sure they reflect that specific meeting. Each month the Board reviews expenditures, payroll, and the financial statements of the District. The Board may accept resignations, employ certified staff, approve leave requests, approve classified staff changes, adopt policies and job descriptions, approve disposal of closed session recordings, and approve other related staffing and employment requests and expenditures.)

Description:
(Each year Community High School District 94 and West Chicago Elementary School District 33 identify persons to serve as hearing officers for a variety of purposes, which includes student discipline and harassment concerns. Some of the hearing officers in each district serve on behalf of the other district. This is approved by the Board of Education on an annual basis.)

VIII. Financial Reports
Description:
(The Board receives monthly updates on the District's financial situation compared to the adopted budget. This is a good check to see if we are close to budget predictions for the year. The Board also receives student activity account reports from each school during the school term.)

Description:

Description:
(The Board of Education will conduct a second reading on revisions to a policy and may adopt the policy if ready.)

IX.B. Review and approve 10-year life safety plan dated July 31, 2012
Description:
(Every 10 years, or sooner, District 33 updates a 10-year plan to ensure the safety and upkeep of all school facilities. This process includes inspection by an architect, and certification that schools are safe for students and staff. The plan is approved by the Board of Education and filed with the Regional Office of Education.)

Description:
(This is an intergovernmental agreement between School District 33 and the West Chicago Park District in order to share parking between Educare's parking lot and Pioneer Park's south parking lot.)

Description:
(District 33 has become eligible for an expansion of the federal school lunch program so that ALL students, regardless of individual eligibility, can partake of school breakfast and lunch offerings. Dr. Wolfe will describe this new eligibility.)

Description:
(The Board of Education will hear a report of planned activities for the opening of school. New teachers will begin on August 27, returning teachers start on August 30, and students in 1st through 8th grade start on Tuesday, September 4.)

XI.K. Curriculum night schedule
Description:
(At the beginning of each school year District 33 schools host an open house for parents to come and learn about the things that will be taught for the year. This is an excellent opportunity to meet teachers and begin the year-long partnership that will enhance student learning. The curriculum night schedule is posted on the District 33 web site. The community is welcome to attend any of these events.)
