VI.C. State Assessment Change from SAT to ACT
Description:
On May 14, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) announced that we will be switching from the SAT to the ACT for the state’s high school accountability assessment. ISBE claims the decision to switch was a financial one, with ACT providing the low bid through a competitive procurement process. With high schools having utilized SAT for the past decade, this will be a significant undertaking. I have attached an FAQ regarding the switch that was recently released. ISBE has stated they will provide schools support through the transition, which will hopefully begin very soon. Our fall and spring testing dates are now listed on the calendar as TBD, given we are awaiting further details on state testing dates/windows. We will update the calendar as soon as testing dates are confirmed.

VI.E. Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) – Petition to Withdraw from Mundelein Elementary District 75 and Mundelein High School District 120
Description:
For information only at this time, I am sharing petitions from District 75 and District 120 to withdraw from SEDOL. The SEDOL Articles of Joint Agreement require member school districts to consider withdrawal petitions and take action to approve or not approved as each Board of Education considers appropriate. In order to be approved, all member districts must vote in support of the withdrawal. If not unanimous, District 75 and 120 may appeal to the Regional Board of School Trustees. The districts are requesting to delay consideration until January, 2025. This will be a potential action item for consideration at our January, 2025 meeting. There will be financial and programmatic implications to consider during this review period.

VIII.A. Chicago Bears Donation – Girls’ Flag Football **
Description:
Following the May 2024 School Board approval of a pilot club activity for Girls Flag Football, the administrative team has been in further communication with the Chicago Bears organization. The Chicago Bears have been instrumental in supporting high school efforts across the state to develop girls' flag football teams. Part of those efforts include monetary donations. Grant applied for a donation, and I am pleased to report that on May 24, 2024, we received the exciting news that we are recipients of $2,500 from the Chicago Bears charitable arm. If the School Board accepts the donation, it will be used for necessary programmatic items to run our pilot Girls Flag Football activity, like footballs, flags, field markers, and uniforms. The generous support of the Chicago Bears is certainly appreciated as it will directly benefit our work to expand student extracurricular opportunities. Recommend approval of a donation from the Chicago Bears in the amount of $2,500.

Attached is the final 2024-2025 budget. I’ve updated from the tentative budget with new employees that have been hired, increased the grants per the allocations the state has indicated we will receive and trimmed expenses extensively. The budget has been on display for the statutory 30 days. Recommend approval of the 2024-25 budget as presented.

IX.B. Treasurer’s Bond **
Description:
The treasurer is required by law to be bonded for 10% of the amount of monies they have custody of. The bond must be approved by the Board of Education and then filed with the Regional Office of Education. Included in your board packet is the calculation determining the amount the bond should be based on the monies in custody. We have obtained a renewal on the bond. The bond is for $4,000,000 and the cost is $3,800, which is a $0 increase over last year. I have attached the bond information for your review. Recommend approval of the 2024/2025 Treasurer’s Bond.
