V.C. School Report Card Timeline
Description:
The data collection window for the 2023 Illinois School Report Card closed on September 29 and opened on October 2 for superintendents to preview for accuracy. It was closed again shortly thereafter I am told due to some reporting errors. Report Cards will be re-released to preview on October 16, shared with the media on October 25, and results publicly shared on October 30. I have provided both a summary of indicators and a detailed description of metrics for this year’s Report Card. I will plan to review the Report Card with you in November.

V.D. Calendar DRAFT – 2024/25
Description:
A draft of the 2024/25 calendar is being provided for your review and shared with our feeder districts for consideration. Institute days would take place on August 8 & 9. The first day of student attendance would be Monday, August 12 and the last day, if no emergency days are used, would be Thursday, May 22. Seniors will complete classes the week prior, with graduation taking place on Sunday, May 18. The calendar will be discussed with feeder districts in the coming weeks in hopes we can align to the greatest extent possible and a final calendar will be presented to you in November.

V.E. Homecoming – 2024
Description:
Homecoming 2024 will take place the week of September 16 to September 21. I am happy to report that is the same week our regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting is. There is no need to change our meeting to align with the Hall of Fame induction.

V.F. Illinois Association of School Board Recognition – Established Board Leader
Description:
Kathy Kusiak has been recognized by the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) for her participation in a number of professional development and leadership activities. Because of her ongoing commitment to continued learning and participation in leadership activities, she has earned the designation as an IASB Established Board Leader. Congratulations, Kathy!

V.G. Joint Conference Planning
Description:
The IASB/IASA/IASBO Joint Annual Conference will take place November 17-19. Pre-conference workshops begin the morning of November 16th and require advance registration. Conference details can be found at https://www.iasb.com/conference/attend. You are encouraged to identify your planned sessions and sync them to your phone or calendar. The Resolutions Committee Report is being provided so you have time to review it prior to the Delegate Assembly Resolutions and itinerary details being discussed in November.

VIII.A. 2023 Tentative Tax Levy
Description:
Attached please find the tentative 2023 Certificate of Tax Levy. The county is predicting that our equalized assessed value will increase from $1,078,742,086 in 2022 to $1,197,475,320. This is a 11.00% total increase from the previous year including new construction. They are projecting our new construction to be $9,667,389, which is an increase of 12.10%. In December, we will need to hold a hearing. I will bring the resolutions and recommendation for approval of the final 2023 tax levy to the December meeting as well.

VIII.B. School Maintenance Project Grant **
Description:
The Illinois State Board of Education has opened up the School Maintenance Project Grant. The School Maintenance Project Grant is a dollar-for-dollar state matching grant program providing awards up to $50,000 to grantees, exclusively for the maintenance or upkeep of buildings or structures for educational purposes. There is no limit to the cost of a project; however, grant awards will not exceed $50,000. We are planning to utilize these funds to assist with the weight room addition. The grant application must be presented to the Board for approval prior to submitting. Recommend approval of the School Maintenance Project Grant Application.
