The Executive Order issued and renewed by Governor JB Pritzker mandates that all individuals present in public and private PK-12 school buildings wear face masks, including teachers, staff, students, and visitors. The Governor has the legal authority to issue a universal mask mandate pursuant to the Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act to address a public health crisis. 20 ILCS 3305/2(a)(2). Consistent with the Order, the Board of Education will require universal masking for attendees age 2+ at all Board meetings until further notice. Individuals refusing or declining to wear an appropriate and well-fitted face mask will be asked to leave the premises.

Individuals refusing or declining to wear an appropriate and well-fitted face mask will be asked to leave the premises. They may watch a live broadcast of the meeting or the video recording of the meeting which is posted and maintained on the District 109 website." If attendees at Board of Education meetings refuse to wear face masks upon request, the Board reserves the right to vote to recess the meeting for a specified period of time (e.g., 30 minutes). All attendees will be asked to leave the premises to ensure their health and safety. When the Board of Education reconvenes shortly thereafter, it will do so on a remote platform, consistent with the Illinois Open Meetings Act. 5 ILCS 120/7(e)."
