IV.A. High School Marching Band Trip to Hawaii

The Redwing Marching Band is planning a trip to Hawaii, March 23 - March 30, 2022. Because it is an overnight, out-of-state trip, it needs Board of Education approval and will appear as an action item at a future meeting.
IV.B. Board Policy Updates

Although the new Thrun policies were approved by the Board of Education in June, Thrun has released updates to several policies. Policy 3118 - Title IX Sexual Harassment is almost a complete rewrite to comply with the law. Most of the other changes are language clarifications. The policy updates will require approval at a future meeting.

VI. DISCUSSION ITEMS
VI.A. 2021 MASB Annual Leadership Conference and Delegate Assembly

The 2021 MASB Annual Leadership Conference will be held at the Amyway Grand Hotel and DeVos Place in Grand Rapids in-person November 11-14, 2021, and virtually November 12–13, 2021. Early bird registration must be submitted before September 24, 2021. Information about the conference is available on the MASB website at https://masb.org/annual-conference.aspx. 

Please contact Michelle Gorby about registering for the conference and attending sessions, as soon as possible. 

At the fall conference, MASB holds its annual Delegate Assembly. The district must certify the delegates who will represent the district at the assembly no later than Friday, October 8, 2021. The designate may designate up to 3 voting delegates, as well as alternates for the assembly. 

Certification of delegates for the assembly will be an action item at the September 13, 2021, regular Board of Education meeting. Any expenses associated with this conference must also be approved by the Board prior to the conference.
