Description:  Mr. Abdulahad would like to approve Jamie Thiel, Director of Human Resources and Operations, as the Asbestos Designated Person for Madison District Public Schools.  Mr. Thiel has passed the asbestos designated person training provided by Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO) on October 14, 2020.
As the designated person, Mr. Thiel is responsible for the inspection of known asbestos in district buildings every three (3) years and annual training of custodial and maintenance staff, among other duties as outlined in board policy 8431 and in the attached documentation.
3.E. Approval of Indemnification of the Superintendent and Asbestos Designated Person
Description:  Mr. Abdulahad would like to pass the resolution to indemnify the Superintendent and the asbestos designated person, Jamie Thiel, Director of Human Resources and Operations, from personal liability related to asbestos inspection and reporting as outlined in the attached resolution.

4.A. Layoff of District Employees
Description:  The layoff of this employee is necessary due to collective bargaining language that requires a custodian on voluntary layoff to be recalled after 30 days.  The layoff of this employee is based on collective bargaining agreement language.
4.B. Recall of District Employees
Description:  Mr. Abdulahad would like approval to recall from layoff the following district employees:
  • Terri Fields, Bus Driver, Transportation
  • Crenia Stinson, Custodian, Madison Elementary
The recall of these employees is necessary in order to meet the staffing needs of the district and to follow collective bargaining agreement language pertaining to voluntary layoff procedures.
