E.1.a. District administration recommends approval to establish a new English IV: Mystery class at Flowing Wells High School, to become effective in the 2026-2027 school year. English IV: Mystery would offer seniors the opportunity to explore mystery literature and related media across this genre while developing the analytical and writing skills required for postsecondary success. Students, particularly seniors, will benefit from high-interest content that increases engagement and fosters deeper investment in their learning. Mystery remains one of the top-selling and most widely read genres, and a course grounded in this genre allows students to engage in reading, analyzing, and comparing works that are both compelling and academically rich. A course proposal is attached for further review.
