Members of the public may address the Board for three minutes. It is Board policy to not respond to public comment. |
V. Organization of the Board of Education
Per Bylaw 0151, The Board of Education shall organize annually on the first Thursday in January on which school is in session at a meeting held for that purpose. The meeting shall be called to order by the Superintendent or the ranking officer of the preceding Board who shall serve as presiding officer until the election of a temporary chairperson, who shall in turn serve until the election of a President (M.C.L. 168.302). |
VI. Officers
Per Bylaw 0152, the Board shall elect a President and Vice-President as well as a Secretary and Treasurer. Election of officers shall be by a majority of the full Board. Where no such majority exists on the first ballot vote, a second vote shall be cast for the two (2) candidates who received the greatest number of ballot votes. Except for those appointed to fill a vacancy, officers shall serve for one (1) year and until their respective successors are elected and shall qualify. An officer may be removed for cause by a majority vote of the full Board. The Board shall fill a vacancy in any Board officer position within thirty (30) days of the occurrence of the vacancy (M.C.L. 380.11a). |
