1. CALL SPECIAL SESSION TO ORDER
Description:
The Special Session of the North Santiam School District’s Board of Directors is called to order at 6:30 pm. It is an open meeting of the Board and the public is allowed to observe. The meeting has been called for the sole purpose of hearing public comments regarding the 2021-22 school year. Anyone wishing to speak must complete a public comment card. These may be completed in advance by going to this link on the District website: PUBLIC COMMENT or obtaining a printed copy at the District office during business hours prior to 4:00 pm on August 11, 2021. Each speaker will have three minutes and can present comments only one time during the meeting in order to allow enough time for everyone. Speakers may not transfer their time allotment to others.
The meeting will be recorded and made available for viewing the following day. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: ALISHA OLIVER PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: ALISHA OLIVER |

4. PUBLIC COMMENT
Presenter:
Alisha Oliver
Description:
The meeting will now be opened to receive public comment. We value the time and initiative members of the public take to share their thoughts with the Board. The Board’s role during public comment is not to immediately respond, but to listen. If there is follow-up necessary, we will direct our Superintendent to do so.
The time limit for each public comment is three minutes. There is a visible timer with an audible alarm and speakers should be aware of the time they have remaining and wrap up their comments within the three minutes. If they fail to do so, the Board Chair will respectfully advise them their time has ended. Speakers who choose not to use their full time allotment may not defer it to other speakers. Speakers will be called at random from a list compiled from all the public comment cards completed. When called, speakers will stand at the podium and give their name, connection to the District (parent, staff, community member, etc) and city of residence. Written testimony submitted prior to the meeting will be provided to all Board members and, if time allows, will be read by District staff once all live statements are delivered. Remember that we all model the way for our students, and we ask that everyone share their thoughts respectfully and that members of the audience conduct themselves in a civil manner while others are speaking. Anyone speaking should be allowed to do so without interruption, intimidation or ridicule. Should this type of behavior occur, the meeting may be recessed and those causing the disturbance will be asked to leave the premises or the meeting may be adjourned altogether. |
