5. Discussion - Revisions to Board Policy BB Board Legal Status

Description:
Proposed revisions to Board Policy BB Board Legal Status reflect the first step to change the official name of the district from Jackson County School District 9 to Eagle Point School District 9.
Our official name as registered with the state is Eagle Point School District 9. All other school districts within Jackson County (Ashland, Central Point, Medford, Phoenix-Talent, Prospect, Butte Falls, and Pinehurst) use this naming convention. The inconsistency of our official name is causing confusion in recruiting, marketing, and public relations. Locally (students, staff and community members), regionally, as well as across the state, we are known as the Eagle Point School District. Revisions to Board Policy BB align policy with our current practice. The administration of the district deems it is the right time to officially change the name to Eagle Point School District 9, starting with Board Policy BB. |
