3. Land Acknowledgement
Description:
Truth and acknowledgment are critical to building mutual respect and connection across differences. Please take a moment to consider the many legacies of violence, displacement, migration, and settlement that bring us together here today. The Parkrose Board of Education begins this effort by acknowledging that we are gathering on the ancestral and unceded lands of the Chinook, Multnomah, Kathlamet, Clackamas, Cowlitz, Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla and many other tribes who made their homes along the Columbia River in the Portland area. We pay respect to their elders past and present. We acknowledge them as the past, current and future caretakers of this land.

11.A. Board Stipends
Description:
Chair: Since Policy BHD involves school board member stipends, each of us has a potential conflict of interest. I will now ask each member to briefly declare this conflict for the record so that we may proceed with discussion on this topic. When I call your name, please respond with 'I declare a potential conflict of interest' for the record. Additional Considerations:
1) The amount of the stipend is limited to the amount included in the budget. 2) The stipend amount will be approved by resolution of the Board. 3) No Board member will receive any compensation for services.

11.B. Budget Vacancy Action Items
Description:
Due to the recent resignation of Michael McClain from Budget Committee Position 3, and with our first budget meeting scheduled in two days, the Board must move quickly to fill this seat. To do this, we will first consider a motion to waive the standard one-meeting waiting period required by Policy DBEA. If that is approved, we will then move to appoint Gwendolyn (Wendy) Collver to the vacancy. Wendy was a vetted finalist from our thorough interview process in February and is ready to serve for this upcoming budget cycle.
