2. Review Professional Development Goals

2.A. Goal 1: The MESD board will commit to board professional development to continue to understand board and superintendent roles and responsibilities, and how both parties operate within their own authority and limits. They will find ways to collaborate with stakeholders and create opportunities for innovative strategic planning to ensure all students are receiving the services they need to reach their full potential.
 

2.A.1. Action Plan 1.The board will collaborate with the superintendent to identify how they can engage more with component districts and MESD staff to help make informed decisions on policies, strategic plan goals, etc.

2.A.2. Action Plan 2.The board will regularly assess and reflect on their performance and review their board professional development goals based on the results of the self-evaluation.

2.B. Goal 2: The MESD board will continue to understand their roles and responsibilities, collaborate and build trust with the superintendent and the community. They will also help establish clear expectations for themselves and the superintendent, while operating within their own authority and limits.

2.B.1. Action Plan 1.The board will continue to be knowledgeable about the budgeting process and the board’s role overseeing the budget to ensure resources are aligned with the needs of their component districts.

2.B.2. Action Plan 2.The board will regularly review their operating agreements and reflect on their board work and decide as a board if agreements need to be revised/modified.

2.C. Goal 3: The MESD board will continue to utilize data to identify and prioritize student services, and hold the organization, superintendent and themselves accountable for ensuring services are aligning with student learning expectations by monitoring the progress of the MESD strategic plan goals.

2.C.1. Action Plan 1.Component district services data will be reviewed collaboratively with the superintendent and key MESD leadership staff to ensure MESD strategic plan goals are/remain in alignment with the services students need most for each fiscal year.

2.C.2. Action Plan 2.The board will calendar at the minimum 3 monitoring sessions during regular board meetings to review, discuss, and monitor the progress of the MESD strategic plan goals.
