Teachers who would like to use a classroom for summer tutoring pay community education a $20 fee to do so ($20 for full summer) as a renter. Teachers work directly with community education to schedule the dates, times and locations and it's added to the facilities calendar that building admins and custodians can view. There's no guarantee they can reserve their specific classrooms as some are used for Kids' Company and other Community Education programs, but Community Education does its best to accommodate their requests. Tiffany said there's an average of 8-10 teachers each year that make this arrangement. When teachers make these arrangements to tutor students, they're paid directly by the family. Families that seek this service can work with building principals and counselors to acquire a list of tutors available.

5.B. 516 Student Medication

Sara E. Comments: I would say we are in the learning/beginning development phase of this......
There are many districts that have decided to stock epinephrine and others that have decided not to. I personally would like to have our district move towards stocking Epinephrine. It is just one more tool in our toolkit for my staff if an unexpected allergic reaction occurs.
In order to set this up, we need medical orders (provided by the state pharmacy board - not an issue), dollars to purchase Epi-Pens (multiple pens per building and at the elementary levels (pediatric and adult pens would be needed and these pens expire annually), an in-depth training for staff, and a formalized implementation plan and a strategy for implementation. Many districts do have stock EPI, some are structured like ours others have RNs in each building. One thing districts that stock EPI have found is a decrease in the number of parents that supply the health office with an EPI-pen for their child, instead of just banking on the stock EPI. The stock EPI in a district does not leave the building and therefore, field trips have become an issue for those families not supplying EPI for their child.
