2.A. 106 Access to Public Data
Description:
HR Director comments:
Delete Policy No. 106 and replace it with MSBA Policy No. 722 with the edits/additions as noted in red on my attachment. MSBA did not have a model policy for public data requests when Policy No. 106 was adopted in 2015. For consistency, I would recommend the Board adopt the MSBA version with the added notes that I think are helpful for the reader and for the school district. |
2.B. 107 Access to Data for Individual Subjects
Description:
HR Director comments:
Change name of Policy 107 to Policy 723 (for consistency with Policy No. 722) and make a few updates as shown in red. MSBA does not have a sample policy detailing the process for Individual Data Subjects to access data about them, so I recommend the Board keep this policy and simply rename it Policy 723 for consistency with the new MSBA Policy No 722.

4.A. 908 District Acceptance and Use of Contributions from Individuals and Groups for Educational Program Support
Description:
Based on my review of Board Policy No. 908, I recommend that it be deleted. The "gift acceptance" portion of the policy is already fully covered in Board Policy No. 706. The staff positions as a gift contribution section is outdated and is also covered by our well-established hiring procedures both through our Activities Department and Human Resources. Our Activities Director is responsible for the hiring and approval of all fund-raised positions that are paid a stipend, whether provided by district funds or gift contributions. I checked with Jill Johnson and she fully supports this recommendation.
