Description:  The district has begun the process of building the 2020-2021 budget. Initial input is being gathered from Principals and Administrators regarding programs and staffing levels. Discussions with the Finance and Facilities Committee will be held as district staff moves forward with the development of the 2020-2021 Preliminary Budget.

Description:  The district is a recipient of a Farm to School grant in the amount of $48,852.50 from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. This is a matching grant for the purpose of adding on additional freezer capacity at the high school in support of more Farm to School opportunities. District staff are very excited about receiving this grant is support of food service operations.

Description:  Representatives of Minneapolis Public schools came out for a visit Monday, January 27th. They wanted to check out Martha, the pasta machine, and how our bulk milk program was operating. They also took a tour of our flour shop. The visit went very well and both groups came away from the visit enriched by the experience. Very positive interaction for the two teams.

Description:  District staff is working with the Bright Schools group to analyze our buildings and identify savings to convert to LED lighting. A report is not yet available for this but we are in the beginning of exploring the opportunity. It is our hope that we will be able to change out fixtures and yield energy savings to pay for the costs of the project. Norwood-Young America school district recently approved a project with Bright Schools.

Description:  The budget and plan for the Southview house remodeling will be shared with the committee. No action is required of the board as this project was previously approved.
