Discussions regarding facility needs have occurred since 2005. Numerous committee meetings, School Board work sessions, ad hoc task force meetings have continued the planning for future space. No formal actions have been taken by the Board of Education.
The Board of Education directs the administration and the School Board Facilities Committee to develop a formal recommendation for approval by the entire Board. This recommendation needs to include: Evaluation of needs; evaluate current and future options Data supporting the evaluation Options considered by the committee and consultant Recommendation for facilities
Recommendations should be presented to the June School Board meeting |
7.C. Approve Assistant Principal Position for Clearwater Middle School
Presenter:
Dr. Rajanen
Description:
The School District has received the retirement notice for Michael Blassey, Dean of Students at Clearwater Middle School. This position has been in the teacher bargaining unit, which has limited the ability of the individual to complete any administrative tasks. Specifically, a dean of students cannot conduct any teacher evaluations, assignment, or direction. The middle school population has grown to approximately 1000 students, which would support the assignment of an assistant principal.
The Superintendent is recommending that the replacement position be classified as an assistant principal. The position is recommended at a .8 FTE, which would result in no net increase in staff expenditures.
The teachers union has been notified of the change in classification of this position, effective 7/1/10. |
