Description:  The topics of the Board Work Session held on April 12, 2017, included a New High School Update, New High School Naming Committee Recommendations, and Section 100 Board Policies and Proposed New Policy 421.    Dr. Marsha Baisch, Assistant Superintendent, will provide a summary.

Dr. Baisch will preview the topics scheduled for the May Work Session, which will be a New High School Update, Section 900 Policies, and Revised Board Policy 503 and New Board Policy 417.

The Administration recommends adoption of Glencoe Physical Science (Grade 9) and Glencoe Biology (Grade 10) materials.

The Administration recommends approval of Tech High School as the name for the New High School.

Devan Haselkamp, Grade 1 Teacher (Long Call Substitute), Madison Elementary School, effective March 27, 2017, through June 8, 2017, Lane BA, Pay Level 2 (full time contract for 54.5 days).  Mr. Haselkamp’s salary for this assignment will be $11,874.62.

Gift Saloka, Special Education Teacher, Discovery Community School, effective February 22, 2017, through June 8, 2017, Lane MA, Pay Level 1 (full time contract for 73.5 days). Ms. Saloka’s salary for this assignment will be $18,636.16.

Xuechen (Fei) Wang, Math Teacher, North Junior High School, effective February 13, 2017, through June 8, 2017, Lane BA, Pay Level 1 (full time contract for 80.5 days).  Mr. Wang’s salary for this assignment will be $16,969.66.

Extended Assignment

Description:  The Administration recommends that the Board of Education authorize a Call for Bids for Quarryview Education Center Bid Package #2 - Irrigation to be opened on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 2:15 p.m. Central Time.

Description:  The Administration recommends that the Board of Education enter into a contract under the NJPA Contract with Anderson Ladd, Inc., for Floor Replacement in Lower Gym at North Junior High School in the amount of $52,675.00.

This project will be funded with Long Term Facilities Maintenance funds.
 

Description:  The Administration recommends that the Board of Education enter into a contract under the NJPA Contract with Northland Recreation LLC, for Attenuating Surfaces for Playgrounds at Clearview Elementary School in the amount of $208,861.00 and Talahi Community School in the amount of $132,653.00.

These projects will be funded with Long Term Facilities Maintenance funds.
 

Description:  The Administration recommends that the Board of Education enter into a contract under the NJPA Contract with Musco Sports Lighting, LLC for Total Light Control LED Lighting System for the football field, track, and field event area at Apollo High School in the amount of $234,491.00.

This project will be funded with Long Term Facilities Maintenance funds.
 

Description:  The total expenditures incurred by Board Members from January 1, 2017 through March 31, 2017 was $1,763.09.  A copy of the detailed expenses is attached.
 

Description:  The Administration recommends approval of the following change order for the above named project.

Change Order #1 with Boser Construction, Inc. in the amount of -$1,581,065.00 for deduction for Area C, reduction in boiler size, and Area A bathroom plumbing credit.

This project is funded with long term facilities maintenance funds.

This change order is within the approved budget for this project.
 

Description:  The Administration recommends that the Board of Education authorize a Call for Bids for Quarryview Education Center - HVAC Controls to be opened on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Central Time.
