Description:
The topics of the Board Work Session held on March 11, 2015, were High School Design Task Force Recommendations, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Update, and Community Education Audit Results. Dr. Marsha Baisch, Assistant Superintendent, will provide a summary.
Dr. Baisch will preview the topics scheduled for the April Work Session, which will include the following updates: Student Services, and Priority and Focus Schools. Board Chair Dennis Whipple will share a summary of the March 10th Lake George Neighborhood Listening Session. |
II.C. District 742 Retiree Recognition

Description:
District 742 and the Board of Education will be recognizing all 2014-2015 retiring employees on Monday, May 11, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. The event will be held at Apollo High School.

II.D. District Top Ten Student Recognition

Description:
The Board of Education will host a reception honoring the "Top Ten" students of Apollo and Tech High Schools. It will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. The event will be televised on Charter Cable Channel 187.

II.E. Award Diplomas - Apollo and Tech High Schools (Appointments by Board Chair)

Description:
Apollo and Tech High Schools will hold their respective commencement exercises on Monday, June 1, and Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. at the River's Edge Convention Center. Two Board Members per school are to be appointed to award diplomas to the graduates. All Board Members are encouraged to attend commencement exercises, and stage seating will be provided.

III.B. Purchase of Pelzer Property

Description:
Kevin Januszewski, Executive Director of Business Services, will present information at the meeting.
The Administration recommends approval of the purchase of 62.12 acres from the Pelzer family at the price of $15,000 an acre for a total of $931,800 for the location of a new high school. The property is located near 33rd Street South in St. Cloud. The Pelzer family is donating 3.65 acres to the District for a total of 65.77 acres after the purchase and donation. A Certificate of Survey for the property is attached.

The Administration recommends that the Board of Education reject the bids for 2015 Roofing Projects - Apollo, Roosevelt, Discovery, Oak Hill, Talahi, and District Services Building.
The bid price was compared to the U.S. Communities Contract price, and the U.S. Communities price is lower by $189,297.00. A bid tabulation is attached.

Description:
The Administration recommends that the Board of Education enter into a contract under the U.S. Communities Contract with Design-Build Solutions, Inc. (DBS), a subsidiary of Garland Industries for 2015 Roofing Projects - Apollo, Roosevelt, Discovery, Oak Hill, Talahi, and District Services Building in the amount of $3,242,403.00.
This project will be funded with Deferred Maintenance Funds. |
VI.Q. Call for Bids - Roosevelt Education Center Building Renovation and Addition
Description:
The Administration recommends that the Board of Education authorize a Call for Bids for Roosevelt Education Center Building Renovation and Addition to be opened on Thursday, April 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Central Time.
The Call for Bids page will be available at www.isd742.org, Department, Business Services. This project will be funded with Fund Balance and Deferred Maintenance. |
