Legislative Update-Along with some other favorable bills, Becker Public Schools is continuing to advocate for one-time monies to support unprecedented construction inflation. Our bids have been competitive, but we have remained tight to our budget due to value engineering and elimination of portions of projects. We are encouraging people to contact Senators and Representatives to urge support for HF 2917 (Howard) and SF 2615 (Hauschild). March 24: Committees must act favorably on bills that met the first deadline in the other body.

7. AMEND 2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR
Description:
MN Statute 120A.41 sets a required number of days and hours for students. Becker School District Policy 602, Article IV, Subd. C states that proposed changes in the school day shall be subject to review and approval by the school board.
With the recent inclement weather days, contracted staff days must be made up. Students in grades 1-11 require 165 days of school. Students need the following minimum hours in grade K need 850; 1-6 needs 935; 7-12 needs 1020. To ensure we are above the required hours, I recommend seniors final day to be Friday, May 26. 2023 and, require staff to make up their day on Monday, June 5, 2023. We will work with administration and involved staff to develop a plan for this make-up day.
