Description:  The Slate of 2020 Annual Authorizations

• Authorize the following banks for the depositories: Southern Michigan National Bank and the Michigan Liquid Asset Fund for the General Fund, Payroll, Trust and Agency, Debt Retirement, Transportation, Future Needs, and School Service Funds.     

                                              

• Authorize the signatures for the various accounts of the School District as follows: For the General Fund, and Payroll, - The Board Treasurer, Board Secretary, Board President, Superintendent, or the Finance Director; and, for the Trust and Agency Fund and School Service Funds - The Superintendent, or the Finance Director.

 

• Designate the second Monday of the month at 7:00pm in the Board Room of the Administration Building for regular board of education meetings;

 

• Authorize, at no cost, notice of Board meetings for individuals who submit a request;

 

• Appoint responsibilities of the treasurer to the Finance Director and appoint the secretary to the superintendent as Recording Secretary;

 

• Designate the Finance Director as Electronic Transfer Officer (ETO) in accordance with policy 6144;

 

• Designate the Technology Director as Copy Right Enforcement Officer;

 

• Authorize the Superintendent, or the Finance Director, as his designee, to invest monies on behalf of the school district.        

              

• Retain the services of Thrun Law Firm P.C. for the 2021 calendar year for matters concerning bond issues, elections, and other specialized services where deemed appropriate; and that the Superintendent, or designee, be authorized to utilize counsel as deemed appropriate of non-specialized services with a not to exceed retention fee of $2,400.00.

Description:  Members of the public have the opportunity to make comments concerning agenda items. 

Description:  The District must develop an Extended Continuity of Learning Plan, different from the Preparedness and Response Plan, but similar to the Plan submitted last spring.  The Plan must be re-certified monthly by the Board of Education for effectiveness.  The Extended Continuity of Learning Plan would be due by October 1^st.
 

Description:  The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was effective on April 1, 2020 and applied to leave taken between April 1 and December 31, 2020 for certain qualified reasons. The FFCRA required employers to provide paid sick leave (under the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act) and expanded family and medical leave (under the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act) through December 31, 2020.

The FFCRA was not extended past December 31, 2020 and has now expired.  The district would like to continue the FFCRA practices through March 31, 2021. However, the Teachers have a Letter of Agreement extending their coverage through June 30, 2021.

It is important to note that the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA), 2021, extended employer tax credits for paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave voluntarily provided to employees until March 31, 2021.
