3.A. The November Student Spotlight will highlight the SEL Student Ambassadors program at Briar Glen Elementary. Fourth-grade student ambassadors Jude Bowers, Joshua Gower, Thamun Shee, Lucy Yerly, and Hassan Younus will show how they work with the SEL teacher committee to help teach social-emotional learning standards, plan celebrations, and encourage all Briar Glen students to follow expectations.

3.B. Congratulations to Glen Crest seventh-grade students Myles Clarin and Mila Fousias, who were selected for the prestigious ILMEA District IX Junior Division Festival. The festival took place on November 16 at Streamwood High School. Myles, an alto saxophone player, and Mila, a viola player, were selected after submitting an online audition that was evaluated by professional music educators. The Glen Crest band teachers are Katie Berry and Lev Garbar; the orchestra teachers are Kristi Kline and Andrew Ladendorf.

3.C. Congratulations to the CCSD 89 Board of Education for earning the School Board Governance Recognition honor from the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB). The CCSD 89 Board is one of only 46 Illinois school districts to be selected for this honor. This award can only be earned every two years. It shows the Board members' commitment to effective governance and obtaining the knowledge to effectively lead the district. The recognition is part of highlighting how good governance creates a positive learning environment for students, staff, and the community.

3.D. November 15, 2024, is designated as School Board Member Day in Illinois. The children of District 89 benefit daily from the commitment to public education of our outstanding school board members: Donna Kemp, Yannick Koger, Jay Lerch, Jessica McGee, Steve Neurauter, Haydee Nunez and Scott Pope and our student board members: Emma Waldbusser and Brooke Wills. Thank you for the countless hours of dedicated service and outstanding collaborative spirit in leading our district so enthusiastically and effectively.

3.E. American Education Week is November 18-22, which is the perfect opportunity to thank Community Consolidated School District 89 educators to celebrate their work. Each day, the staff members of all five CCSD 89 schools are focused on ensuring that every student reaches their full potential as a learner and classmate. This community's children benefit from having excellent teachers who care deeply about each student's success.
