3.A. The Student Spotlight for October will focus on the STEAM bins in the fourth and fifth grade classrooms at Briar Glen Elementary. The bins include tools students can use to solve different engineering challenges. In addition to developing the students' skills in the content area, the STEAM bins also encourage team building and problem-solving, as will be demonstrated by Vivian Barnes, Beatrice Hurley, Riley Radakovitz and Tyler Schleinzer.

3.B. October celebrates National Principals Month. District 89 recognizes that principals love what they do and enjoy the many opportunities to share in the learning journey of the children in their school. We honor the work and commitment of our outstanding principals: Mitch Dubinsky, Kristie Mate, Dawn McCray, Brett McPherson, Kristen Ulery and assistant principal Sammy Smith.

Approval of Resolution #860-23 providing for the issue of not to exceed $8,300,000 of General Obligation Bonds, Series 2023, of the District for the purpose of altering, repairing and equipping the Arbor View Elementary, Briar Glen Elementary, Park View Elementary, Westfield Elementary and Glen Crest Middle School Buildings, including installing school safety and security improvements and repairing and replacing windows, doors, roofs and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, providing for the levy of a direct annual tax sufficient to pay the principal and interest on the bonds and authorizing the sale of the bonds to the purchaser thereof
