4.A. The March Student Spotlight features the writing curriculum at Arbor View Elementary School. Schoolwide writing helps students work through a series of steps that develop their research and writing skills. This framework is used through eighth grade, adding depth to each step every year.

4.B. Glen Crest musicians had a successful day at the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) solo & ensemble contest on Saturday, February 26. The contest was held at Indian Trail Junior High School in Addison. Katie Berry, Lev Garbar, Kristi Kline and Andrew Ladendorf, and the entire CCSD 89 community is proud of the hard work and dedication of all the students who participated. Special recognition is given to the following musicians on their achievements:

4.C. Congratulations to the Glen Crest 8th grade girls' basketball team on becoming the undefeated regular season conference champs this season with a 14-0 record. The success of our team was credited to outstanding teamwork by Abby Baygood, Kate Bruhl, Emma Briggs, Olivia Cernauske, Teagan Cloutier, Genevieve Corbin, Jillian DeMayo, Gabia Judikas, Kylie LaBarbera, Kylie Maline, Anesa Maloku, Jamie Mizwicki, and Molly Purse. |
4.D. Congratulations to the 11 Glen Crest students who read seven or more of the novels that were chosen for this year’s Spartacus Reading Challenge. Each year, Anderson’s Bookshop curates a list of 25 young-adult novels that might be nominated for the annual Newbery Medal for distinguished children’s literature. Glen Crest students are challenged to read the books between November and January. The Spartans who finished seven or more books are: Emma Cernauske, Charlotte Edwards, Emily Goodin, Sean Jang, Nora Martinez, Lizzie Pekkarinen, Prisha Raheja, Krisha Rathish, Mia Siguenza, and Maddie Sobecki. Special mention to Kavya Uppal, who finished all 25 Spartacus Reading Challenge books!
