4.A. The December Student Spotlight will showcase the following Briar Glen students who are serving as members of their PBIS Green Team: Yemi Fatuga, Kendall Simpson, Courtney Knight, and Laurel Bacote. Social worker Kristen Payne assisted in this presentation.

4.B. The District Boardroom once again is showcasing student artwork. Thank you to art teachers Helen Shafton, Sally Dillon and Rich Stachon for collaborating on this effort, and to the following student artists whose works are a pleasure to have displayed: Park View's Niki Katoch and Madelyn Schmidt; Westfield's Joshua Chaney, Anna Nakagama, Colton Perdriau, and Ben DiFranco; Briar Glen's Celia Cousineau, Emily Donovan, Justin Squillo, and Laurel Bacote; and Arbor View's Thalia Holguin, Maeve Pinkelman and Grace Wallner.

4.C. In addition to the artwork on display at the District Office, we are pleased to announce the following students' artwork is now on display at Bells & Whistles Snackery in downtown Glen Ellyn: Westfield 's Jenna Magas, Lauren Sweeton, Xander Lilly, Nick D'Ambra, and Kelly McGuire; and Park View's Tyler Duzansky, Abida Aisikaer, Tavion Keith, Emily Weigand and Helen Morales. Thank you, Bells & Whistles Snackery for partnering with District 89 in this effort to showcase our student artists.

4.D. Congratulations to Glen Crest 8th grade trombone player Joseph Singleton, who has been invited to perform with the VanderCook College of Music Symphonic Band at the 2009 Midwest Clinic. This is an international band and orchestra conference which is attended by thousands of music educators from the United States and across the world. Joseph will perform from 2:30-3:45 at McCormick Place in Chicago on Friday, December 18, 2009.

4.E. District 89 is proud to announce that Glen Crest teacher Monica Shekar recently received National Board Certification. This certification measures a teacher's practice against high and rigorous standards and is a process of extensive performance-based assessments including teaching portofolios, student work samples, videotapes and thorough analyses of the candidates' classroom teaching and student learning. Congratulations, Mrs. Shekar on this very noteworthy accomplishment!

4.F. Jill Seijo, Senior Vice President/Senior Marketing Officer of the Community Bank-Wheaton/Glen Ellyn recently donated $240, on behalf of her bank, to Park View School for their at-risk kindergarten program. Mrs. Kristina Uddenberg, kindergarten teacher, used the money to purchase fabric so that the students could make blankets as holiday gifts for their families. We are very grateful to the Community Bank of Wheaton and Glen Ellyn for their kind generosity and applaud Ms. Seijo's efforts in advocating for this worthwhile project.
