4.A. Arbor View 4th grade student Frank Iacopelli was selected as a student presenter for the 27th Annual Chicago Business Hall of Fame presented by Junior Achievement of Chicago on Tuesday, October 1, 2009 at the Chicago History Museum. Frank had the distinction of being the youngest presenter at this event, and was commended for his outstanding speech as he introduced one of the three honorees. Congratulations, Frank, on this memorable experience!

4.B. Park View Principal Amy Warke wll be presenting a session entitled "The Complexity of Difference: A Conversation About Meeting the Needs of Marginalized and Minoritized Youth in American Schools " at the University Council for Educational Administration's National Conference on November 20, 2009.

4.C. On November 7, 2009, Pamela McDermott, Glen Crest Library Information Specialist, will be presenting a session entitled "Using Standards, Collaboration and Technology to Engage 21st Century Learners and Help Every Student Achieve!" at a conference for the American Association of School Librarians being held in North Carolina.

4.D. District 89 art teacher Helen Shafton presented a workshop at the Illinois Art Education Association conference on Saturday, November 7, 2009. The workshop was based upon the ideas she wrote in a manuscript recently submitted for publication on "Making Art Special: A Curriculum for Special Education Art".

4.E. November 15-21 is American Education Week. The Board of Education acknowledges the commitment to excellence District 89 employees bring to their schools each day, and appreciates the quality education you provide the children of this community.

4.F. In addition to recognizing the District 89 staff this week, we also wish to acknowledge the Board of Education for their outstanding community service for the benefit of the children in this community. You selflessly donate your time leading the District to continually strive for excellence in education.
