11.D. Thorne Bay Employee Housing Construction Services - Informational Item
Description:
'
Recommendation No action required. Informational item only. Summary: The Superintendent has approved a labor-only construction services agreement to complete exterior stairs, ADA-compliant ramps, and covered access for three District employee housing units in Thorne Bay. This item is provided to inform the School Board and community. Background The District issued a Request for Quotes for this work using funds from the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation’s Rural Professional Housing Grant. After reviewing proposals, the District determined that using a labor-only approach, with the District purchasing materials directly, is the most cost-effective option. This approach reduces overall project costs, avoids material markups, and allows the District to pay only for actual hours worked while ensuring all work meets safety, accessibility, and building standards. Fiscal Impact Labor costs will not exceed $7,200 and will be paid from existing grant funds. No additional budget action is required. |
