This is the same as multiplying each by 1000.**Step 4:**We can see now that we have 144.0 / 1000 after multiplying both numerator and denominator by 1000.**Step 5 (optional):**Now that we have our answer, we can**simplify**the fraction to 18/125.

Sometimes it is more useful to convey a decimal number as a fraction instead. In those cases, this type of conversion is helpful.
