RELEVANT INFORMATION: Per Arizona's USFR (Uniform System of Financial Records), school districts must maintain a stewardship list for equipment costing between $1000 and $4999.99. School districts must also account for capital assets, which include land improvements, buildings, building improvements, and equipment costing $5000 or more. Upon disposal of stewardship items or capital assets, an Authorization to Dispose of District Property form must be filled out and approved by the governing board or authorized designee. 8.A.6. Consider approving an Intergovernmental Agreement between The City of Prescott and Prescott Unified School District for the Services of School Resource Officer at Prescott High School, as presented.
RELEVANT INFORMATION: A.R.S.§ 15-154 authorizes the District to place peace officers in its schools in accordance with an approved School Safety Program. The District has identified funding to cover seventy-five percent (75%) of the total cost for the City to provide one School Resource Officer to provide school resource officer services ("SRO Services") for Prescott High School ("PHS"), while school is in session. The City of Prescott will cover the remaining twenty-five percent (25%) expense during the school year and the full salary/benefit cost when school is not in session. The City and the District desire to enter into an agreement whereby the City will identify a sworn, certified police officer to provide SRO Services at PHS during the 2024-2025 school year (the "School Year"). The City and District have partnered with an SRO for many years. The District is authorized to enter into the Agreement pursuant to A.R.S. §§15-342 and 11-952. 8.A.8. Consider approving the list of The TRUST approved Hearing Officers, for student long-term suspension hearings for the 2024-2025 school year, as presented.
RELEVANT INFORMATION: Governing Board Policy JKD outlines procedures to be used for long-term suspension hearings. The hearing officers listed on the attached document have been trained to serve in this position. 8.A.9. Consider approving an Intergovernmental Agreement between Prescott Unified School District and Yavapai College regarding Dual Enrollment courses, effective through June 30, 2027, as presented.
RELEVANT INFORMATION: This is a renewal IGA between Prescott Unified School District and Yavapai College. Yavapai College will offer college-level courses that may be counted toward both high school and college graduation requirements at the high school during the school day. STUDY AND VOTING SESSION - If a member of the public wishes to speak to one of the following voting items, please complete and return exhibit BEDH-E, Request for Public Participation in Governing Board Meeting to Sarah Torres, Administrative Assistant to the Governing Board prior to the study and voting session of the agenda. This document can also be found under the Governing Board tab on the PUSD website: https://www.prescottschools.com.
For items with the potential to have many speakers, the overall speaking time may be adjusted by the Governing Board. Speakers will be called to speak in the order in which they signed up, first come, first served. Requests to speak that are emailed will also be first come, first served. 8.B.1. Consider approving students recommended for early entrance into kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year, as presented.
RELEVANT INFORMATION: The parents of twelve (12) children have requested early entrance into kindergarten. In accordance with Governing Board Policy JEB, Entrance Age Requirements, eleven (11) children (one family canceled) participated in early entrance screening using the Brigance Screening Tool. After completing kindergarten screening, seven (7) children demonstrate academic, language, and motor skill readiness and are recommended for kindergarten. Four (4) were not accepted. RELEVANT INFORMATION: A Capital Plan for Prescott Unified School District must be approved by the Governing Board and submitted to the School Facilities Oversight Board annually. School districts considered as "growing" school districts must submit an annual Capital Plan following Governing Board approval. Due to enrollment fluctuating in the Prescott Unified School District, it is recommended the Capital Plan for 2024-2025 be submitted with "NA" (not applicable) to indicate the school district does not intend to access any additional square footage at this time.
