Description:
Estimated Time to Present: 1 minute
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) paid lunch equity (PLE) tool is typically used this time of year to determine meal prices for the upcoming year. This year, the USDA released guidance stating districts with a positive balance in their food service account are exempt from PLE pricing requirements. This guidance along with the overall fiscal health of our food service fund will result in the same meal prices for 2023-24 as we had in 2022-23.

VIII.B.4. EL Instructional Teacher - Program Implementation and EL Coordinator (Action Requested)
Presenter:
Tabatha Gundrum
Description:
Estimated Time to Present: 5 minutes
Updated job descriptions for the EL Coordinator and EL Instructional Teacher - Program Implementation and Instructional Coach have been attached for Board review and approval. Many of our job descriptions haven't received updates for more than 10 years and several things have shifted in that time related to our instructional program. The EL Instructional Teacher - Program Implementation's primary role will be the development and implementation of a Newcomer Center to better serve our Newcomer families. The EL Instructional Coach will be supporting staff with best practices and strategies to serve our EL students with an emphasis on inclusionary practices to the greatest extent possible in our classrooms. These two roles are combined into one position within Wausau School District and are able to be funded through our Title II grant. The EL Coordinator's primary role will be oversight of the administrative aspects of the program such as state and federal reporting, ACCESS Testing, assisting with grant management, staffing plans, professional development and evaluation support for staff in our school sites. |
VIII.B.5. Transfer from Fund 10 to Fund 46 (Action Request)
Description:
Estimated Time to Present: 5 minutes
The District’s Long-Term Capital Improvement Trust Fund (Fund 46) may only be funded through transfer from the General Fund. Following the establishment of such a trust fund in 2016, transfers may be made from the General Fund to Fund 46. All such transferred funds became available five years from the creation of this fund (during 2021-22 and beyond). Administration recommends an amount of $100,000 to be transferred. This amount will be considered a shared cost for 2022-23 for purposes of calculating equalization aid for 2023-24. This will effectively increase shared costs for 2022-23 in a year when shared costs are lower because of the increased dependence on ESSER funds. |
VIII.B.6. WIAA Membership Renewal for 2023-24 (Action Requested)
Description:
Estimated Time to Present: 5 Minutes
Dr. Jennifer Ruascher will present the WIAA membership renewals for our middle and high schools.
