V. CALL TO PUBLIC
|
|
V.A. Pursuant to Federal Public Law 103-382, Title 8 (Impact Aid), and the District's Indian Education Policy (IGAK), this call is for any member of our district. The public is cautioned about making statements against employees of the District that may be considered slanderous. A further reminder, the minutes of this meeting are public record and may be used in other proceedings. This is the time that the public may speak to the Governing Board on any issue including agenda items. Action taken as a result of public comment will be limited to directing staff to study the matter, or to reschedule the matter for further consideration and a decision at a later date if it is not already on the agenda. Comments under Call to Public will be limited to four minutes.
Those wishing to address the board are requested to submit their comments by one of the following methods by 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026: email public comments to boerequests@holbrook.k12.az.us, fax to 928-524-3073 or mail by USPS to PO Box 640 Holbrook, AZ 86025. IX.A. Superintendent Search Application Review And Timeline- Dr. Stuart
Description:
HUSD and the Arizona School Administrator's Association have concluded the application process for the HUSD #3 Superintendent Search. The recommendation is to now screen the applications, set up interviews and make a final selection. The proposed schedules for the next steps in the search process are included in the back-up materials.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Dr. Joraanstad from the Arizona School Administrators Association to present feedback from the superintendent search survey and to present the proposed schedule for application review, interviews and selection for the HUSD #3 Superintendent Search as presented. Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to choose the date (January 21st/January 23rd/January 28th) for in-person interviews for finalists. |

IX.B. Authorization To Explore A Joint Use Center Partnership - Dr. Koerperich
Description:
HUSD #3 is requesting Governing Board authorization to approve the Superintendent, or their designee, to formally explore possibilities for a joint-use facility partnership between the City of Holbrook, Navajo County, Holbrook Unified School District #3, and Northland Pioneer College, including engaging in discussions with all entities to determine preliminary steps for exploration of a joint-use facility. No formal actions will be taken before submitting them to the Governing Board for formal actions. |

IX.C. SY 26-27 School Calendars - Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The HUSD #3 calendar committee has developed a recommended calendar for SY 26-27. The calendar includes a 5-day traditional calendar with half-days on Friday for Park, Hulet, HJHS and HHS and a 4-day calendar for Indian Wells Elementary School. The calendar meets the requirements for 180 student days and 144 student days for Indian Wells Elementary and 183 certified teacher days.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve the SY 26-27 school calendar; as well as, the four-day calendar for Indian Wells Elementary School as presented. |

IX.D. Practicum Hours - Mrs. Tow
Description:
Ms. Deanna Woody is requesting to complete practicum hours at Hulet Elementary School in the spring semester. Ms. Woody has her valid fingerprint clearance card.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Ms. Deanna Woody for practicum work at Hulet Elementary School as presented. |

IX.E. Internship Approval- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Mrs. Katy Brown is requesting to complete social work internship hours at Holbrook Junior High School during the second semester of this school year. Mrs. Brown will be supervised by the current part-time counselor, Mr. Steve Dana, for these internship hours. Mrs. Brown has all the credentials required for the internship program.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Mrs. Katy Brown to complete social internship hours at Holbrook Junior High School during the second semester of this school year. |

IX.H. Title I Comparability Administrative Procedure- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of a Title I Comparability Administrative Procedure as presented. Title I comparability is required to ensure federal funds are not supplanting state funding, as well as, ensuring comparability among Title I schools, including staffing ratios and per pupil expenditures. The administrative procedure is included in the back-up materials.
