V. CALL TO PUBLIC
|
V.A. Pursuant to Federal Public Law 103-382, Title 8 (Impact Aid), and the District's Indian Education Policy (IGAK), this call is for any member of our district. The public is cautioned about making statements against employees of the District that may be considered slanderous. A further reminder, the minutes of this meeting are public record and may be used in other proceedings. This is the time that the public may speak to the Governing Board on any issue including agenda items. Action taken as a result of public comment will be limited to directing staff to study the matter, or to reschedule the matter for further consideration and a decision at a later date if it is not already on the agenda. Comments under Call to Public will be limited to four minutes.

VIII.A. Voyager Passport Resource Kit Supplemental Material 60-Day Review - Mrs. Tow
Description:
The Holbrook School District requested a 60-day review of Voyager Passport as a supplemental reading program. The program focuses on phonogical awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary development and comprehension to increase reading proficiency. The program will be used as a supplemental reading resource in the district elementary schools. The 60-day review will be posted on the district website under 60-day review materials. Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Voyager Passport for final adoption as presented. |
VIII.B. Book Taco 60-Day Curriculum Review- Mrs. Tow
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of a 60-day review of Book Taco which is a supplementary literacy tool designed to enhance student engagement and comprehension skills. Book Taco provides access to over 56,000 comprehension quizzes for books available in the classroom and school libraries. The 60-day review proposal is included in the back-up materials and will be posted online for public review. Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Book Taco as a curriculum for final adoption as a supplemental instructional material. |

IX.A. Public Hearing For FY 26 Budget - Mrs. Maestas
Description: On July 8, 2025, the HUSD #3 Governing Board approved the FY 26 budget. At the time of the proposed budget and adoption of the budget, the new budget forms were being developed based on the ending of the legislative session. The revised budget forms are completed and are ready for Governing Board adoption as presented. We are seeking public comment at this time. Recommendation: Motion to take comments from the public pertaining to the FY 26 budget as required by state law. |

Description:
The Holbrook Unified School District has developed the FY26 Holbrook Unified School District budget. We are now requesting approval of the FY26 Holbrook Unified School District budget as presented.

IX.C. Qualified Evaluators- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Each year, the Governing Board designates district employees who are qualified evaluators to serve as evaluators for the District teacher performance evaluation system. HUSD #3 is recommending the following qualified evaluators, who have attended qualified evaluator training, as evaluators for the district's performance evaluation systems for the 2025-2026 school year: Charles Haussman, Robbie Koerperich, Clete Hargrave, Cheri Grau, Connie Gover, Nichole Tow, Rasheed Hollins, Galen Knight, Bernice Gover, Andrea Tomlin, Sierra Browning & Jeff Meeks.

IX.G. Out Of State Travel Link Crew- Mr. Hargrave
Description:
Holbrook High School is requesting out-of-state travel for Jamie Justman, Callie Jensen and Cayla Serna to attend Link Crew training for the HHS Freshman Transition Program on September 9th and 10th in Denver, Colorado. The Link Crew itinerary and travel schedule are included in the back-up materials.

Description:
The Arizona Risk Trust offers qualified hearing officers for school districts to use in matters of student discipline and employee-related issues that arise throughout the school year. We would like to recommend the list of qualified hearing officers as outlined in the back-up materials.

IX.J. HUSD #3 Special Education Procedures Manual Adoption- Dr. Meeks
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of a Special Education Procedures Manual as presented. The manual outlines special education procedures including educational philosophies, child identification, eligibility categories, Individual Education Plan guidances, open enrollment procedures, extended school year procedures, discipline guidelines and other special education procedures utilized at HUSD #3. The manual is ready for adoption as presented.

IX.K. Book Vending Machine Book Inventory Sixty-Day Review- Dr. Tomlin
Description:
Indian Wells Elementary and Hulet Elementary Schools are requesting a 60-day review of books for the PBIS Book Program in which students will be able to earn free books from the school book vending machine. Purchases of books will come from Scholastic Dollars earned at book fairs. The list of books is included in the back-up materials.

IX.L. Nurse Resignation- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Mrs. Audrianna Quezada has submitted her resignation as school nurse effective July 30, 2025. Mrs. Quezada's resignation is subject to Policy GCQC Resignation of Professional Staff Members.

Description:

IX.N. HUSD Delegate Assembly Representative- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
On September 6, 2025, the Arizona School Board Association (ASBA) will host the annual ASBA Delegate Assembly to vote on legislative priorities for advocacy on behalf of public school districts for the 2026 legislative session. Each member district is allowed one vote for each action item. The Governing Board may choose a member(s) to represent HUSD #3 at the delegate assembly.
