V. CALL TO PUBLIC
|
V.A. Pursuant to Federal Public Law 103-382, Title 8 (Impact Aid), and the District's Indian Education Policy (IGAK), this call is for any member of our district. The public is cautioned about making statements against employees of the District that may be considered slanderous. A further reminder, the minutes of this meeting are public record and may be used in other proceedings. This is the time that the public may speak to the Governing Board on any issue including agenda items. Action taken as a result of public comment will be limited to directing staff to study the matter, or to reschedule the matter for further consideration and a decision at a later date if it is not already on the agenda. Comments under Call to Public will be limited to four minutes.
Those wishing to address the board are requested to submit their comments by one of the following methods by 10 am Tuesday February 11, 2025 : email public comments to boerequests@holbrook.k12.az.us, fax to 928-524-3073 or mail by USPS to PO Box 640 Holbrook, AZ 86025. IX.A. HUSD #3 Ward Redistricting Public Hearing- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is in the process of redistricting HUSD #3 Governing Board wards to align to the 2020 census data. The Governing Board will take public comments at this time.
There is a sign-up sheet at the public hearing for those who wish to provide public comment on the Ward Redistricting Plan. The Board President will recognize the members of the public in the order indicated on the sign-up sheet. In order to ensure enough time for all members of the public to provide public comment, individual public comment will be limited to five (5) minutes per person. The Governing Board will additionally receive and consider written public comment received no later than 12:00 noon on March 3, 2025. Written public comments can be emailed to boerequests@holbrook.k12.az.us, faxed to 928-524-3073, or mailed to: Holbrook Unified School District Attn: Superintendent P.O. Box 640 Holbrook, AZ 86025 No formal action will be taken on this item at this meeting. IX.B. Indian Community Participation- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Policy IHBJ outlines our District's responsibility to give tribal officials and parents of Indian students the opportunity to comment on the participation of Indian students on an equal basis in the school program. In addition, Policy KJG requires our District give an annual status report based on public school performance measurements to each Indian Nation with tribal lands located within district boundaries and governed by the Arizona Department of Education. We are requesting to act upon these actions at this time.
Recommendation: Take public comments from the Indian community according to Policy IHBJ. In addition, provide Governing Board recommendations to the district administration team based on public comments. |
IX.C. Out Of State Travel For Council For Exceptional Children Convention- Dr. Meeks
Description:
Ms. Holly Perkins is requesting out of state travel to attend the Council for Exceptional Children 2025 Convention and Expo in Baltimore, MD from March 12 to March 15, 2025. Ms. Perkins will attend sessions and return to train HUSD #3 staff on conference topics. Details of the out of state travel request are included in the back-up materials.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Ms. Holly Perkins for out of state travel as presented. |
IX.D. Out Of State Travel For Boomerang Project Freshman Program- Mr. Hargrave
Description:
Holbrook High School is requesting out of state travel for Cayla Serna, Jamie Justman and Callie Jensen to attend professional development for The Boomerang Project in Orange, California from March 23rd through March 26th, 2025.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Cayla Serna, Jamie Justman and Callie Jensen to attend the Boomerang Project professional development in Orange, CA from March 23rd through March 27, 2025 as presented. |
IX.E. Frog Street Early Childhood Curriculum Sixty-Day Review- Dr. Tomlin
Description:
Indian Wells Elementary and Park Elementary Schools are requesting a 60-day review of Frog Street as an early childhood curriculum. Frog Street is a preschool-based early childhood curriculum aimed at Kindergarten readiness that will be used both in our current preschool programs and summer transition programs for incoming Kindergarten students. The curriculum proposal is included in the back-up materials.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Frog Street as an early childhood curriculum for a 60-day review as presented. |
IX.F. 2025 Power Of 5 Academic Program- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Holbrook School District is requesting Governing Board approval of the 2025 Spring Power of 5 Academic Program for test preparation, graduation support and academic growth at HUSD #3. The Power of 5 Academic Program will focus on student success in the spring semester on state assessments, graduation rates and other student achievement indicators to Help our Unique Students Develop. The performance pay for completing the Power of 5 Academic Program will be funded through results-based funding.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve the Power of 5 Academic Program as presented. |
IX.G. Annual Review of Policy KF, KF-RA, KF-EA, KF-RB, KF-EB, KF-EC Community Use of School Facilities- First Read- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
Holbrook Unified School District Policy KF pertains to community use of school facilities. Annually, the Governing Board is to approve the fee schedule and usage policy for school facility use. After reviewing the policy, it is recommended to include an updated fee scheduled as stated in the revised policies KF, KF-RA, KF-EA, KF-RB, KF-EB, and KF-EC.
Recommendation: Discussion and consideration to approve Policy KF, KF-RA, KF-EA, KF-RB, KF-EB, and KF-EC for first reading as presented. |
IX.H. Policy GCF Professional Staff Hiring First Reading- Dr. Koerperich
Description:
The Arizona School Board Association has recommended a policy update to Policy GCF Professional Staff Hiring. The policy update includes that candidates for professional positions must disclose whether they have pled guilty, pled no contest, been convicted or are awaiting trial pursuant to A.R.A. 15-509. The policy revision is included in the back-up materials.
