Good morning:  As I shared in an email before Thanksgiving break, I am sending you a

3) template for a support letter;
4) important dates in the IGA for your knowledge
Feel free to use this template or not.  Please reach out if you have any questions.  Below are narratives from the ERCA strategic planning of 2019.  These may help you discuss with your BOE and/or public.  REMEMBER WE ARE LOOKING AT ALL DISTRICTS GETTING APPROVAL BY JANUARY SUBMITTAL OF GRANT.  Thank you and have a great weekend.

These are narrative statements that share the essence of the ERCA (from three different groups).  These could be used for marketing, etc.
We are pleased to announce the construction of a facility to host the Effingham Regional Career Academy, a 21st century learning center.
As a result of the combined leadership of Lake Land Community College, local businesses and school officials, this facility will produce a dynamic and cutting edge workforce to meet the current and growing needs of our region.
This academy will also allow new and existing businesses to train employees to work with the most current and industry leading technology.
Through extraordinary leadership and cooperation, local businesses, school districts and community college, funding has been secured for a new Rural Development Technology Center on the Lake Land College campus in Effingham.  The Effingham Regional Career Academy has set clear goals and objectives to provide a qualified work force for established and new businesses in the region.
This facility is being developed to provide an innovative learning environment which provides hand on experiences and training to both students and incumbent adult workers.  Community leaders were instrumental in the development of this program to meet the needs of local businesses.  The ERCA looks forward to identifying a strong leader to further integrate the expertise of all stakeholders to help facilitate future coordinated efforts.
The ERCA will provide training to students and incumbent workers through real hands-on experience and relevant curriculum created by local experts to provide a qualified workforce.  These goals and objectives have been identified by the local community, educators, and businesses.

Description:  Exception 1:  We need to discuss the elementary principal position and 2nd round interviews.
   * Candidate?
   * Salary range?
   * Other issues?

Exception 2:  The Families First Coronavirus Response Act allowed full-time employees up to ten days off with pay as a result of COVID isolation or quarantine.  That act ends on December 31, 2020.  It seems that most districts will then just start charging sick leave days.  There are several things to consider here.  First, do we still feel that charging sick leave days is appropriate when a staff member must quarantine due to close contact at school?  The first semester, most were willing to work from home as much as possible.  If they are being charged sick leave days, that may not be the case from here on out.  We have one employee now who has had to quarantine for 2 weeks due to close contact with students.  Then, she tested positive and had to take off the week after Thanksgiving.  She will have to use 4 sick leave days.  If we allow this, will we want a limit n the number of days?

I am talking to our union about tuition reimbursement for some of our teachers.  I want to update you on that.

I would like to discuss a leave request from Linda Baker.  I believe that we are required to approve the request, but I felt it needed brought to your attention as it will be an expensive leave for us as a replacement speech teacher will be expensive.
