III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Description:
Our pledge of allegiance will be led by Eisenhower students who have read more than 100 books this year as part of the "Century Book Club".

Description:

IV.B. Board of Education Election Results
Description:
All four of our incumbent Board Members were unopposed and reelected for a four-year term. We congratulate Carol Botwinski, Mari-Lynn Peters, Brian Greidanus, and Brynn Nordmark and thank all of our board members who serve the community in these volunteer positions. There will be a reorganization meeting and seating of the new Board on Saturday, April 29 at 9:00am in the Grodsky Admin Building.

IV.C. Building a Better D23 Referendum Update
Description:
The referendum question placed on the April 4 ballot was unsuccessful. Unofficial results identified 46% of voters in support and 54% opposed. We thank the YesD23! Community Advocacy Group and all those who contributed their time communicating and encouraging support for these efforts. While we are disappointed in these results, we respect the process and the voice of our community. We will address our ongoing safety, facility and program needs through our Strategic Plan and regroup to determine next steps.

IV.D. April Monthly Recognitions
Description:
April is Volunteer Appreciation Month. We especially thank all who share their time and resources with District 23 to support our students and staff. April is also recognized as School Library Month. We appreciate our Library Media Specialists Ms. Hauschild, Mrs. Strachn, Mrs. Yager, and Mrs. McWilliams for their dedication and inspiration that leads our Media Centers into innovative and Future Ready places of learning. We also recognize Autism Awareness Month in April and thank all of our professionals who bring this specialized skill and expertise to serving our students and families. April 3-7 was recognized as National Assistant Principal Appreciation week so we'd like to recognize our outstanding AP Ms. Stephanie Gage. Last, but certainly not least we celebrate Teacher Appreciation and Nurse Appreciation Week in early May. We thank all of our professionals for their dedicated service and contributions that make District 23 an amazing place in which students learn and grow.

IV.E. District-Wide Staff Meeting May 22, 2023.
Description:
Our District-Wide Staff Meeting will be held on May 22, 2023, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the MacArthur Gym. We will honor our colleagues and retirees.

IV.F. Registration for 2023-24 Open
Description:
As an update, our families have received information and we have opened the process for registration. We encourage all families to register during the month of April. Registered families will receive payment requests for school fees in July.

IV.G. Visit by Representative Canty - April 14
Description:
Illinois State Representative Mary Beth Canty will visit and tour District 23 on April 14. She reached out to set up an opportunity to meet our students, staff, and team and we are excited to share the exciting things happening across the District.

IX.C. FY24 Budgetary Guidelines - ACTION
Description:
Mrs. McPartlin has prepared and attached an overview of budgetary initiatives and considerations in preparation for the FY24 Budget. These guidelines were discussed at the April Finance Committee meeting. The FY24 Budget Calendar was presented back in October and has also been attached for the Board's review.

IX.D. FY24 EBC Insurance Renewal Rates - INFORMATION
Description:
The EBC Board of Directors held their renewal meeting on March 16th. Districts were given the opportunity to attend to discuss the final renewal projections and rates for the upcoming plan year. The rate sheet and overview have been attached for your review.

Description:

IX.F. NSSEO - FY24 Preliminary Budget - DISCUSSION
Description:
Presented as a first read tonight, the NSSEO has shared their preliminary budget for FY24. Member districts have participated in several Finance Committee meetings to discuss proposed increases in tuition and services based on current usage. Next month, we will need to pass a resolution for a directed vote at their June meeting.

IX.G. Gymnasium Painting Services Bid - Recommendation for Award - ACTION
Description:
Bids were solicited in late February for the painting of both the Ross/Sullivan and MacArthur Gymnasiums. The lowest bidder, meeting the District's specifications, is being recommended for award at the April Board meeting. At this time, we are asking to award the Ross/Sullivan Gymnasium only, which will be a cost split with the Arlington Heights Park District. The MacArthur Gymnasium will be awarded to the same vendor, pending Board approval and budget availability, later in the 2023-24 school year.

IX.H. Transportation Contract Extension - ACTION
Description:
Mrs. McPartlin, in collaboration with representatives of District 21, successfully negotiated a one-year extension to our transportation contract with First Student in the amount of 9.9%. The contract was discussed at Finance and is presented to the Board for approval.
