I. CALL TO ORDER
Description:
Carol Botwinski, Board President, called the meeting to order.
Good Evening. With changes to the CDC and IDPH guidance, we are now able to return to in-person Board meetings with seating for the public. All individuals in attendance are required to wear a face mask. We will continue to provide a Livestream option for those who wish to view our meetings from home. As appropriate, we may also provide remote participation options for board members, guests, and presenters. Thank You. |
II. ROLL CALL

III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Description:
We are joined by Eisenhower School who have received the IKE Path award for September. They will lead us in the pledge of allegiance.

IV. RECOGNITION OF VISITORS AND PARTICIPATION
Description:
At each regular and special open meeting, members of the public and District employees may comment on or ask questions of the Board of Education. If you would like to address the Board, please complete the form and give it to Mrs. O'Donnell, our recording secretary. The Board will be prepared to address those comments related to the agenda within a reasonable time. Communications sent to BOE@d23.org will be read by all Board members, but are not entered into public comment.

V.A. Eisenhower School Improvement Presentation
Description:
Each school presents its Improvement Plan annually to the Board and Community. Tonight Dr. Lambatos and his team from Eisenhower will provide an overview of their goals for 2021-22.

V.B. Maintenance and Custodian Appreciation
Description:
Maintenance and Custodian Appreciation Day was celebrated on Monday, October 4th. We extend our appreciation to our crew for everything that they do to maintain a safe, clean, and healthy school environment.

V.C. National School Bus Safety Week - School Bus Driver Appreciation Day
Description:
We extend our thanks to First Student and all of their drivers and employees who we rely on for the safe and efficient transport of our students. A gesture of appreciation will be shared with our drivers on School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, October 22, 2021 in recognition of their dedication.

VIII. FINANCIAL REPORT
Description:
Attached is the memo recommending payment of the voucher lists for materials, supplies, and services paid since the last BOE meeting. In addition, the District payments for salaries and insurance benefits during the previous month are included for approval. Those documents are all included for your review.

IX.C. School Maintenance Projects Grant - Information
Description:
The District has applied for a $50,000 School Maintenance Projects Grant towards the cost of upcoming HVAC Retrofit work at MacArthur. Current projections show Phase 1 costs at approximately $457,000. If awarded, the District will have two years to utilize the funds.

IX.E. IASB Delegate Selection - ACTION
Description:
During the Triple I conference in November, the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) conducts a delegate assembly to discuss and vote on proposed resolutions. District 23 has historically participated in this process and, to do so again, will need to nominate and select our representative.

IX.F. Multi-Tiered Systems of Support - Discussion
Description:
Drs. Zaher and Sroka coordinate our District wide efforts to provide a multi-tiered system of supports to students. Implemented by our building principals and teams, this framework guides the identification of students in need of additional support or enrichment. This year, our focus is on strengthening Tier I core instruction for all students.
