B.8.a. A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request was received via email on September 28, 2021, from Mr. Vince Espi, LocalLabs, requesting all data of any faculty or student with (a) COVID-19 positive test results, (b) COVID-19 like symptoms or (c) close contacts to a confirmed COVID-19 case that were reported to the local health department over the previous seven days.  In addition, he requested all details that were provided to the local health department. 

Mrs. Rupsch responded to Mr. Espi via email on September 29, 2021, that District 56 reported one COVID-19 positive case and four close contacts during the requested time period.

B.8.b. A second Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request was received via email on September 28, 2021, from Mr. Vince Espi, LocalLabs, requesting a list of all materials in the district that fall under the 1619 project.  He also requested information on essays written by authors referenced in the 1619 project "America Wasn't a Democracy Until Black Americans Made It One", by Nikole Hannah-Jones available in the school libraries.  Thirdly, he requested a list of books written by Ibram X. Kendi (aka Henry Rogers) or Robin DiAngelo that are used in the curriculum or libraries in our schools.

Dr. Correa responded to Mr. Espi via email on October 5, 2021, that none of the teachers have and/or use any of the titles referenced in the FOIA request.  Dr. Correa also stated that the River Trail librarian reported having one copy available for student check out of the book, Stamped: racism, antiracism, and you by Ibram X. Kendi.

B.8.c. A third Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Request was received via email on September 29, 2021, from Ms. Janie Jordan, Data Research Partners, requesting all District 56 employees' first and last names, e-mail address, title/position, and primary campus/department location.
