Description:  Shakopee Public Schools has received ASBO’s Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024, a designation that the district was also proud to receive for FY2023, FY2022, FY2021 and FY2020. ASBO International’s COE is a significant achievement and reflects a commitment to transparency and high-quality financial reporting. 

Applicants submit their Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for review by a team of financial professionals who provide feedback to improve future documents. If the report meets the requirements of the program, it may receive the COE.

We are here today to honor the exceptional volunteers of Shakopee Public Schools, those who have gone above and beyond, dedicating hundreds of hours to special projects and providing invaluable support. Our district is incredibly fortunate to have 2,342 dedicated volunteers who have collectively contributed 5,700 hours. This remarkable effort translates to an estimated value of roughly $190,000 for our schools, based on the national hourly rate for volunteer work that Scott County also uses to when quantifying the impact of County volunteers. Our volunteers commitment and spirit are truly invaluable to our community.

Our volunteers are driven by a genuine love for what they do. Their contributions are vast and vital, filling needs across many areas. You'll find them in workrooms assisting with tasks like cutting, laminating, and organizing materials, as well as accompanying students on field trips and providing support in reading and math. They are also integral to student well-being, helping with vision and hearing screenings.

Beyond direct student interaction, our volunteers dedicate their time to the PTO and various district committees, organize events, and enhance our school environments by beautifying buildings and tending to gardens. They ensure our learning resources are well-maintained by organizing bookrooms and even building shelves and carts. Furthermore, they play a crucial role in supporting our educators by helping to prepare and organize new curriculum, allowing teachers to focus on what they do best: teaching and building relationships.

The dedication and care of our volunteers are deeply valued by both staff and students alike.
