Description:
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Rick Sansted will share with the board the "206 Points of Pride." The persons being recognized this month are: Senior Josie Hochsprung has been named a Commended Student in the 2024 National Merit Scholar Program for demonstrating outstanding potential for academic success. Josie was presented with a Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation. DMS Social Studies Teacher Melissa Bloch received the 2023 MN GIS/LIS Consortium’s Distinguished Educator Award for her work at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School. This award recognizes active educators who have demonstrated leadership, creativity and enthusiasm for the effective use of geography and GIS to inspire, engage and prepare students for participation in the workforce and geospatial community. Evelyn Stockford, Ana Risnes, Evan Slack, Teddy Tonkin and Carter Olson were selected to represent Alexandria and perform in the Central Lakes Conference All-Conference Jazz Ensembles at Discovery Middle School on October 30. Five AAHS students were named Athlete of the Week:

IV.B. APPROVE PAYMENT OF BILLS FOR SEPTEMBER 2023

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Because of the many year-end accounting adjustments and entries that need to be made, the financial reports for September 2023 will be presented when the number accurately reflects fiscal year 2022-2023 activities. The listing of bills for payment is the last attachment to this agenda. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends the board approve the payment of bills for September 2023. |
IV.C. APPROVE PERSONNEL RECOMMENDATIONS

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Personnel recommendations are made monthly. The conditional offers of employment are subject to successful completion of a criminal background check and I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification, and where applicable, the issuance of the required license. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends the board approve the personnel recommendations as presented on the following pages. |

As per district policy, the board is required to approve the submission and acceptance of donations and grants to the district that exceed $1,000. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends the school board approve the attached resolution accepting grants and donations to the school district. |

Viking Sportsmen Inc. is applying to be the Independent Provider for the Alexandria Public Schools National Archery in the School Program during the 2023-2024 school year. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends that the board approve Viking Sportsmen Inc. as the Independent Provider for the National Archery in the School Program for the 2023-2024 school year. |

IV.K. ADOPT RESOLUTION FOR THE APPLICATION TO MSHSL FOUNDATION

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Minnesota State High School League Foundation is a nonprofit association created to complement the MSHSL by providing support for Minnesota’s high school youth to participate in athletics and fine arts. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends that the board approve the resolution authorizing the District to submit an application (Form A) to the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Foundation to assist the school district in recognizing, promoting and funding extracurricular participation by high school students in athletic and fine arts programs. |
IV.L. APPROVE AMERICAN INDIAN EDUCATION AID APPLICATION

The American Indian Education Aid (AIEA) program provides per-pupil funding to districts that report an American Indian student count of 20 or more on their October 1 MARSS report. To participate in the program, districts must submit an application detailing how they will enhance the education and support of American Indian Pupils. RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends that the board approve the American Indian Education Aid Application as presented. |
