6.b. Approval of Amended Budget for 2023-2024 (FY24). (I, AI)
Description:
Due to the Capital Plan and other unanticipated expenses, we presented an amended FY 24 budget to the Board at the March 11, 2024 meeting in a public hearing. Due to time requirements between the hearing and the approval, we had to move the approval to the May meeting as there were not 30 calendar days between the hearing and the April Board meeting.

6.c. Salary Recommendations for Support Staff for the 2024-2025 school year. (AI)
Description:
Approval of Support Staff Compensation Recommendations for the 2024-2025 school year. The recommendation is for 3.4% increases over the 2023-2024 salary amounts for all support staff at the District Office, Teaching Assistants, and building secretaries. There will also be a 3.4% increase for substitute rates and our grant writers, newsletter, and social media staff. The starting rate of pay for support staff will move up 1.7%, which is half of CPI.

6.d. Insurance Renewal Rates with NIHIP. (I, AI)
On May 2nd, the District Insurance Committee met with NIHIP, our Health Insurance Co-Op, to review the District’s renewal rates for the 2024-2025 school year. The following rate changes will be in effect for Benjamin SD25 effective September 1, 2024: Renewal Premiums reflect the following renewal action: PPO: 12.9% increase; HMO: 7.1% increase; HDHP: 12.5% increase; Dental: 2.9% increase; Vision: 0% increase; Life: 0% increase

6.e. Audit engagement letter for FY 24 (I, AI)
Description:
Each year we authorize our auditing firm, Baker/Tilly, to commence the Fiscal Year Audit.

6.f. Regular Transportation Busing Contract 2024-2029 with First Student and paid rider fees. (I, AI)
The administration is recommending a 5 year contract with First Student Transportation. The first year overall increase is 19.5%. However, we have locked in 4% increases in each of the subsequent years and there are no fuel escalator charges. We have also increased insurance coverage levels, will have newer buses, will have a parent tracking app, and an activity bus 4 days a week at Benjamin. The annual average increases over the life of the contract will be at 7%. |
6.g. 2024-2025 Paid Bus Rider Fees (I, AI)
Description:
Paid bus rider fees will be set at $322.40 and $644.80 for the 2024-2025 school year. This is a 15% increase over 2023-2024.

6.h. Sodexo Food Service Contract, Meal Rates and Milk and Juice rates for 2024-2025. (I, AI)
Meal price will be $3.95 per meal reflecting a 5.2% increase over last year. Juice price remains unchanged at $75 for the year. Milk price remains unchanged at $65 for the year. |
6.i. Gym Floor Replacement Approval (I, AI)
Award Contract to Consolidated Flooring to replace gymnasium floor at Evergreen during Winter Break 2024. Total contract cost is $119,000. We will invoice the Carol Stream Park District for half of the cost in accordance with our IGA. |
6.j. Evergreen Masonry Repair Approval (I, AI)
We received two bids for this project. Berglund Masonry was our low bid with a total cost of $50,000. Our roofing consultant, INSPEC, is satisfied with Berglund as our contractor. Carol Stream Park District will be invoiced for half of the repair amount in accordance with our IGA. |
6.k. Arcon Architect Contract Signature Approval (I, AI)
The Board took action to enter into an agreement with ARCON at its March 11, 2024 Board meeting. We have the final contract, vetted through legal counsel, for approval and signature this evening. |
6.l. Fifth Grade Classroom Flooring Cost Approval (I, AI)
We are recommending approval of a contract with Consolidated Flooring in the amount of $27,095 to procure product and install new flooring in the four fifth grade classrooms. |
6.m. Fifth Grade Classroom Casework Cost Approval (I, AI)
We are recommending the casework contract for the four fifth grade classrooms be awarded to Larson Equipment in the amount of $74,263. |
6.n. Approval of Summer Hours for the District Office
Description:
District Office Hours during the summer are modified each summer. The District Office is open 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and closed on Fridays.

Description:
Each year the Board approves the summer hours schedule for the District Office employees. This year, because we end on a Thursday, the first week of Summer Hours will be June 3. Hours will be 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. with an abbreviated lunch. The District office will be closed on Fridays. The last week of Summer Hours will be the week of July 29 - August 2. We will return to normal hours the week of August 5.
