5. Positive Highlights and Celebrations

5.A. This month, Saginaw ISD is joining schools and families across the region in highlighting the importance of regular attendance. Superintendents from Bay-Arenac ISD, Saginaw ISD, Midland ESA, and Gratiot-Isabella RESD joined WNEM TV5 to champion “Strive for Fewer Than 5," in regional effort to improve student attendance and engagement. 
 

5.B. A special thank you to Governor Gretchen Whitmer for calling Saginaw ISD Chief of Staff Coty Kuschinsky to wish our students and staff a wonderful school year! 

5.C. Thank you to AT&T for supporting students in Saginaw County with its generous backpack giveaway. This year AT&T and its staff provided 200 backpacks to be distributed to students throughout Saginaw County!

5.D. Saginaw ISD is celebrating a new three-year collective bargaining agreement representing a significant investment in highly trained professionals, including educators and specialized service providers, delivering raises averaging 18% to strengthen Special Education services throughout Saginaw County.

5.E. Great Lakes Bay Early College (GLBEC) has been named one of the best high schools in Michigan for a third consecutive year, published by U.S. News & World Report.

5.F. Saginaw ISD Early Childhood received a Supplemental Nutrition Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

5.G. A special shout out to Kimberly Pruitt, Emily Rau, and Mark Lyons the original creators of "The Spark Series"!

5.H. Our first monthly Breakfast Connection between District Administration and Union Leadership was held on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The setting provided an informal and collaborative opportunity to connect and engage in meaningful dialogue.
