Inaugurated in 2004, the Gilder Lehrman History Teacher of the Year Award highlights the crucial importance of history education by honoring exceptional American history teachers from elementary school through high school. In addition to receiving a $1,000 honorarium from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, Ms. Culver will also receive a collection of books and educational materials.

The members of the Arkansas State Board of Education are requested to review the following:
Commercial Bond Application - 1 Second Lien. With the recommendation to approve the application from the Loan Committee and additional information provided by the school district in its application package and pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. § 6-20-1205 concerning school district bonds, a school district shall not sell bonds until the issue is approved by the State Board of Education. Therefore, the State Board of Education, in its discretion and after considering the merits of the application with the Loan Committee recommendation, may approve a school district bond application for the full amount of the proposed bond issue, approve the application for a lesser amount than requested, or disapprove the application.

Four Charter Authorizing Panel Members voted to approve the application for the Grade 6-8 open enrollment charter and one panel member voted to deny the application.

Unbound Academy applied to establish an open-enrollment charter school beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. The Charter Authorizing Panel denied the approval of the open enrollment application based on the following: limited experience in a fully virtual model; lack of a viable plan or readiness to provide a high-quality learning environment for Arkansas students. Five Charter Authorizing Panel Members voted to deny the application.

Newman Virtual Academy Arkansas applied to establish an open-enrollment charter school beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. The Charter Authorizing Panel denied approval of the open-enrollment charter application based on the following: failure to address critical areas and the program was not fully developed. Four Charter Panel members voted for denial of the application and one member abstained.
