IV.2. Recognizing Har-Ber High School Television Production for receiving an Emmy for Live Event Sports Broadcasting.

The National Student Production Awards recognize outstanding achievement in video production. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences promotes excellence by showcasing work created by high school students in news, craft and programming categories. Har-Ber High School Television Productions led by advisor Travis Sherman recently received a National Emmy for Live Event Sports Broadcasting, sealing their position as the top Sports Broadcast team in the entire country. Students competed against thousands of entries across the United States and the pieces were judged by college instructors and industry professionals. The judges looked at the overall production value and delivery, including: Pre Game Show, Halftime Show, Post Game Show, Live Reporting, Cameras, Audio and Direction. Congratulations to:

Description:
The members of the Arkansas State Board of Education are requested to review the following:
Commercial Bond Applications - 2 Second Lien and 1 Voted With the recommendation to approve all applications from the Loan Committee and additional information provided by the school district in its application package and: Pursuant to Arkansas Code Annotated § 6-20-1205 concerning school district bonds, a school district shall not sell bonds until the issue is approved by the State Board of Education. Therefore, the State Board of Education, in its discretion and after considering the merits of each application with the loan committee recommendation, may approve a school district bond application for the full amount of the proposed bond issue, approve the application for a lesser amount than requested, or disapprove the application.

V.4. Consideration of Report on Waivers to School Districts for Teachers Teaching Out of Area for Longer than Thirty (30) Days, Ark. Code Ann. §6-17-309

Description:
Arkansas Code Annotated §6-17-309 requires local school districts to secure a waiver when classrooms are staffed with unlicensed teachers for longer than 30 days. Requests were received from 4 school districts for a total of 4 waivers. There were also requests for long-term substitutes from 12 school districts requesting a total of 15 waivers for long-term substitutes. These requests have been reviewed, were either approved or denied by Department staff, and are consistent with program guidelines.

Under Ark. Code Ann. § 6-17-422 members of the PLSB serve rotating terms, and are appointed by the State Board from nominations made by professional education associations. Dr. Nita Bohannon is being nominated for a full term after serving in the position recently vacated by Dr. Ellen Treadway. Dr. Bohannon will represent the Arkansas Professors of Educational Leadership (ARPEA) and its members. Dr. Harold Jeffcoat, Superintendent of the Van Buren School District has been nominated by the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators (AAEA) to represent their membership. Dr. Sheena Williamson, Assistant Superintendent of the Searcy School District has been nominated for a second term by the Arkansas Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). The terms of these members to begin on July 1, 2021 and end on June 30, 2024.

Presidents and Chancellors of all four-year colleges and universities were invited to submit proposals to host 2022-2024 Arkansas Governor’s School. Their recommendation for the proposed site for 2022-2024 will be presented to the State Board for approval.
